I had one, it didn't make a vas deferens.

Heard some clinics give discounts.

Beware, it's a rip-off.

It was definitely the right thing for me. No "oops." No brats.

Over twenty years ago when I was dumb blue pill private I had the honor of serving under a platoon sergeant who was RP through and through. He told all his young soldiers to get fixed and save themselves from a life of regret. He did at 18 and said it made life and women so much easier. When I knew him in his 30's he had more plates than the mess hall. But the vasectomy was his ace in the hole, we witnessed more than one slut accuse him of being the daddy. The CO would listen to the whore and then he would reply that SFC H had a verified vasectomy over fifteen years ago.

it's not like they're foolproof. if you're unloading into chicks left and right, there's probably a good chance you actually knock one of them up, even with a vasectomy.

[–]BrianW1999[S] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not true.

A vasectomy, done correctly, means that no sperm enters the semen, and there is a 0% chance of impregnating a female.

[–]pl231 0 points0 points0 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

they can become undone over time.

[–]BrianW1999[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not true, if done correctly.

[–]pl2310 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

they have a failure rate of roughly 1 in 1000, assuming perfect use. so again, yes, they can. I'm not saying it's not a good idea, however I'm saying have your eyes open, you aren't guaranteed a 0 % chance of getting someone pregnant.

WTF no dude, it doesn't work like that. Sperm isn't made of electricity. It doesn't just jump the wires.

[–]circlhat 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you never want kids than I don't see why not, maybe freeze your sperm just in case you change your mind

[–]caughtyouredhanded 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Vasectomy doesn't actually affect sperm production, it just changes the method needed for, er, extraction. Good local anesthesia plus a needle is the solution, if there's a problem reversing the vasectomy (which is usually doable). Sounds horrible, but that's because we get antsy about balls. Anyway, it's far better than birthing the thing.

One of the greatest things I've ever done.

[–]BrianW1999[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Did it hurt? How old were you? How much did it cost? Details please.

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It definitely hurt. But worth the pain 10 times over. Balls were grape purple for a week. Was 23 and a virgin. I'm in Canada so it was free.

What did you tell the Doc in your first meeting?

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First went through GP, then got referred to specialist 2 months later. Told them both the same thing. I've always known I don't want kids, even as a kid myself. Passing on genes has never been important to me. In my mind, the risk of not getting a vasectomy and regretting it is much more likely and severe than the risk of getting one and regretting it. I would never gamble on my own kids because of downs syndrome and crap like that. Some people say that you shouldn't risk getting it til later because it's permanent, but having an undesired kid is also permanent and much worse as well. I've put it off for several years just to make sure there were no moments of doubt, and there never was. I've spent a lot of time soliciting arguments from people on the internet, just in case there was a viewpoint I haven't considered that might change my mind, and there never was.

In other words, basically demonstrate a shitload of prior thought. I was lucky enough to get a pretty liberal set of doctors.

Someone did an AMA here a while ago. Search for it.

[–]doveenigma13 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yep.

Then I blue pilled the eff out real bad and had it reversed.

I do have a beautiful daughter now, so I have that going for me. Which is nice.

[–]SvenKlaphos 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It aint redpilled to not have kids, as long as your not a beta provider.

[–]doveenigma13 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was a model blue pill story. You have no idea.

[–]prodigyx 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

2 different guys I work with got them done by the same doc on separate occasions. They had the both had the procedures done in the morning and were back at work in the afternoon. They said it didn't hurt and there was a little soreness for a day or so.

[–]twistedbrother2 -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That unnatural "my body was opened" soreness.. yekh.

[–]Azothlike 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Seriously considering one, but I have two crowd sourced questions.

1.) Do women think less of you when they find out you had a vasectomy? I can imagine the hamster wheel that results from a baby crazy woman finding out you're shooting actual blanks.

2.) Does it affect your decision to use protection? If so, do you explain why protection is less important to you, and if so, how?

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

1) it may reduce women's horniness. A lot of women are genuinely turned on by the risk of getting pregnant. Not telling her may result in some really hot sex.

2) if I feel the woman is a low enough std risk, I'll go ahead and do her raw. If she insists on condoms for contraception (funny, I've never had a woman insist on this) then it's a tossup between telling her and enjoying it raw, or using the condom and maybe getting some super-hot "I might get pregnant" bareback sex later.

I think maintaining the pretense of fertility is generally the way to go, but it can be hard if she starts freaking out because you just want to put her mind at ease.

Quality answer and about what I expected, thanks.

[–]Realworld 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Got one while single and in my 20s.

I was socially oblivious; high SMV without knowing it. What I did know was far too many plates were telling me "I want to have your child". Thought it was how women proposed but most were telling me this when I barely knew them. That theory was further jarred by friend-of-a-friend who passed along the message that she also 'wanted to have my child'. I was completely lost to explain that one, I hadn't even had sex with her.

Mixed in with this was a married plate who got pregnant by me and wanted me to marry her as a result. "No, you're already married", followed by my promptly exiting town.

I didn't know what was going on, but knew I had to put a stop to it. Giving up sex was out of the question. Vasectomy was the answer.

I narrowed my plates down to a horny divorced 8 with kids who didn't want any more, to keep sex supplied short term. Found willing surgeon in nearest big city. And that was it.

Many subsequent women insisted I reverse it but never with a credible reason.
