Rationality vs. Irrationality (emotion)

Logic is worthless (meaningless, even) without values or goals that we work towards via our rationally decided actions. These values and goals are provided by our desires and emotions, which exist to help us fulfill our survival needs.

Of course, our emotions don't always benefit us, so it helps to understand them. We only have a limited amount of control over our desires, so part of being rational is to choose the actions that make the most difference towards achieving our goals.

For most of us here, that looks something like: lift, eat real food, go talk to people, make money, read, develop skills, avoid blue-pill behaviors.

I'm rambling a little, but what I'm trying to get at is that there has to be balance between logic and emotions. Without logic, you are a child with no plan or purpose; without emotion, you are a robot with no creativity or adaptability.

Balance is key and we need emotions to.make good decisions. People with a type.of physical brain damage that causes them to feel no emotions whatsoever make poor.decisions. Read up.on emotional intelligence.

the belief that women find me attractive and want to sleep with me is irrational if i have no empiricle evidence to support it. yet i will be more successful with women if i hold this belief vs the rationally supported belief that women dont find me sexually attractive. irrational beliefs are very powerful when used in a way to further your goals, this is probably why we have the capability to hold them.

I've had Soldiers tell me about a sixth sense. The hair on the back of their neck standing up.The sinking feeling in the pit of their stomach that something is not right. Then the IED going off or the ambush that happened to another patrol a few hours later in that same spot that they were lucky enough not to fall into, all because they listened to that sixth sense, that irrational feeling, and told someone about it.

Ah, decisions and emotion.

Here we come to the case of Phineas Gage, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phineas_Gage :

Phineas P. Gage (1823 – May 21, 1860) was an American railroad construction foreman remembered for his improbable survival of an accident in which a large iron rod was driven completely through his head, destroying much of his brain's left frontal lobe, and for that injury's reported effects on his personality and behavior over the remaining twelve years of his life—effects so profound that (for a time at least) friends saw him as "no longer Gage."

He lost the emotion center, and became unable to make decisions. His logical areas were not affected. His life essentially disintegrated, due to his inability to make decisions.

The current understanding of neurobiology is that decisions come from the emotional centers. You can think logically - but after that, how you feel about your conclusions is what shapes your actions.

This makes total sense as instinctive, unthinking reactions permeate simpler life forms. They still decide what to do. Since evolution proceeds by hacks rather than redesigns, it makes no sense that the development of higher reasoning functions in humans would trigger complete replacement of all earlier decision making processes. Thus, the lizard brain reigns supreme, the mammal one is next and the uniquely human parts have the least pervasive influence.

You will have noticed that Dr. House does not always act rationally.

Sometimes Vulcan self-control is beyond us. Embracing some irrationality will paradoxically allow you to be more rational the rest of the time, in much the same way that minor cheating on a diet allows you to adhere to it better the rest of the time.

Most time you need to be Rational and Logic, including when deciding to let Rationality and Logic out the window and let ~~emotion~~~ passion dictate your experience of certain events, like sex;

Still, use protection no matter what (Rational and Logic) and don't stick your dick into crazy (Rational and Logic).

Our inner animal is emotional.

Women let their emotion direct their path and then backfill rationality (hamstering) to make everything make sense.

Men "observe" their emotion (Monk Mode training) and remain stoic in it's presence, but don't reject it. We use an abstract objective model of reality as our frame so that we can better manipulate reality to satisfy our emotions.

Red Pill is our abstract objective model.

We "use" Red Pill truth to achieve what are animal passions.

The ultimate "frame" is holding a stoic demeanor to our OWN emotions.
