Summary: Nietzsche is RP as hell. He says one needs to face adversity to grow and be worth anything. So go and create adversity for yourself to face.

Body: Friedrich Nietzsche was RP as they come when it comes to Philosophers (Seriously guys go read up on him and read some of his stuff). His concept of an Ubermensch (German for Super human) is about as Alpha RP as a man can be. The Ubermensch was basically a dude (Nietzsche uses guys like Jesus, Buddha, or Napolean as examples) who bucked social structures, trends, and expectations and took control of his life on his own terms.

Pretty much an ultimate Alpha. But how does one become an Ubermensch?

Simple: Face adversity. Overcome it.

Can you have fulfillment without adversity? Can you achieve big things without failure?

"To those human beings who are of any concern to me I wish suffering, desolation, sickness, ill-treatment, indignities — I wish that they should not remain unfamiliar with profound self-contempt, the torture of self-mistrust, the wretchedness of the vanquished: I have no pity for them, because I wish them the only thing that can prove today whether one is worth anything or not — that one endures." - Nietzsche

Nietzsche understood that man must face tough things in order to be great.

Adversity builds toughness and resolve. It creates an attitude of "never quit."

What do you do to create adversity in your life every day? Sure we could go out and just wait for it to come, but then you are wasting the opportunity to grow everyday.

A year ago I started taking Scottish showers (warm at first finished with cold for a few minutes). Two months ago I switched to all cold all the time. I've only had two warm showers since then, one when I was really dirty with oil and grime from working on the car and one after sharing a shower with my wife. Why do this?

Because it sucks. Every. Single. Time. All. The. Time.

I never want to get in it. I cringe every time. I breath heavy and try to control my panting and heart rate. I hate it. But I won't stop. It's one thing I can do every day to force myself to face the suck.

Takeaways:

Here are some other little things you can do to force yourself to face adversity.

  1. Always take the stairs.
  2. Park at the furthest spot in a parking lot.
  3. Go to the gym and lift heavy crap (not machines, actual heavy weights).
  4. Wake up early. (Then take a cold shower)
  5. Commit to do something you've never done before and are scared of. (Public Speaking, a Race, a Hike, a Class) Then go and do it.
  6. If you are single (or even if you aren't) cold approach a set number of girls everyday.

As Nietzsche says I wish you all adversity, as that is the only way one can prove themselves worth anything. Go out and endure it.
