The difference between 50k and 140k is a much nicer place to live and a much nicer car. 50k gets you a 200k house if you're lucky. 140k gets you close to 750k of house. Or if you prefer 50k gets you a Toyota Camry. 140k will get you a 5 series at least. The ability to save and accumulate money at 140k vs 50k over a lifetime is also markedly different.
