With the massive increases in people having depression and other mental health issues these days, the rampant political correctness is to be these peoples' safety net. Any mention of a mental health issue, absolves them of any guilt, responsibility or even accountability for their actions to to others and to themselves. Blameless and free of responsibility, why would any weak person give up the possibility of being able to live a mediocre life without being expected to improve and be a better person. And all that attention too! I'm not even surprised with how many people claim to have mental health issues to get attention and be pitied.
Weakness is easy. Embracing these weaknesses and self diagnosing yourself with depression is not the answer to life's questions. In this community we are here to improve and be the best we can be. Overcoming the mind and whatever obstacles coming our way. Every time I do an extra rep on the bench, my mind's telling me no, but my body (my will) is telling me yes. I need to overcome myself. TheeSillyman, you can do this shit! Instead of bitching and moaning and giving up, we resist, we push, we pave our own paths.
Now I know there are legitimate concerns for mental health and dangers of suicide and all that shit. Chemical imbalances are real, I don't doubt it. But is it really as rampant as it seems?
The majority of people these days are definitely taking it out of control. We need to be different. We need to take up the responsibility of being an immovable force, physically and mentally. Your biggest challenge is always within you, not without and knowing that you can overcome whatever your mind throws at you means you have the tools to push though any hardships coming your way.
When I'm about to write an exam (which I should be studying for right now) my mind races and doubts itself and I look inward and say "holy shit there's no way I'm passing this class" Do I give up and walk away or should I push through and resist my mind's doubts and self harm?
Depression and just general sadness with life are things that are avoidable. You are affected by outside circumstances and that is what is changing your disposition. If life is going great, you've got more than a few plates, a group of guys that you love the shit out of and a career with unlimited possibilities, how can you ever feel depressed and down. That's what we strive for here, overcoming our minds to fight tooth and nail to get to where we want to be.
Being busy doing something and improving your life at every chance you get, you should never feel worthless. You advance at all crossroads, never turn back, never surrender. I'm not saying be alone with your thoughts, but your thoughts should follow your actions, be amazing, think you're amazing because you're moving forward one step at a time and have a plan on how to get to the end.
Look at the people around you (and on reddit (which is 80% of them)) who describe themselves as having depression. Are they doing everything they can to improve? Or are they sitting in their basements jacking off and giving up on life just cause they believe they have unsolvable depression and cannot do anything about it. Do not be like that. You are better than that.
Looking back and reviewing failures and when you were a beta bitch can be beneficial to find out what you were doing incorrectly and what you should do to improve your personality and game. But dwelling on failures and feeling like a shit isn't going to aid you in striving to be CEO or a doctor or whatever the hell you want to do with your life. No use crying over spilt milk.
Forget the weakness that clouds your mind and forge on.
TL;DR Feeling sorry for yourself and/or diagnosing yourself with depression or something like that isn't going to make your life better, it's going to absolve you of responsibility to yourself and others and make you content with mediocrity.
