There are other things to read as well. Read some classics from Tolstoy, Dosteovsky, Faulkner, and Joyce. Read some good non fiction history books. Read some good non fiction that relates to biology and psychology, such as the Red Queen or the Selfish Gene. Just READ quality material and you'll learn things that can be applied to you daily life; this uptake of knowledge happens whether youre conscious of it or not. The biggest problem with today's society is it's deeply anti-intellectual. You cannot understand yourself, others, and the human condition/society at large if you're simply reading shitty blogs, forum posts, and fb! There is no enlightenment in video games or binging the latest shitty superhero show from netflix.

It absolutely baffles me the number of guys who value independence, self-fulfillment, being powerful, getting girls, and ultimately being Alpha, but refuse to read. Abso-fuckin-lutely baffles me. Television and radio has been around for 150 years. Civilization has been around for thousands of years. Surely there is a benefit to being able to think on your own. But in books we literally have a repository of the greatest minds to ever live to access easily. Nearly every word that has ever been written has been made accessible one way or another. And books are dirt fuckin' cheap. How do people not realize there is tremendous value to be extracted on how to live, especially from classics. Emerson, Thoreau, T.S. Eliot, Shakespeare, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Dickens, Austen, Tolstoy, Faulker...the list goes on. Reading does to the mind what lifting does to the body. There is no simpler and more accessible way to becoming interesting, intelligent, and aware of the world than reading. Also, read to expand your view of the world, not reinforce! I'm sure the books listed by the OP are worthwhile. But there is no point in reading if all you're doing to reinforcing things you already know.

As often mentioned No More Mr Nice Guy is also a very good book on this matter.

Reading books like this is all well and good but also read any fiction you like. The more you read the more ways you have of expressing yourself which is an excellent asset to have.
