With humor, you need to tune into an intuition. Humor isn't about a punch line or telling a joke.

Context is a huge component with humor. It depends on the social context and situation. Funny with the guys is going to be different then funny with kids or women. If it doesn't make you smile before you say it, you probably shouldn't say it.

Develop your own sense of what you find funny. Start speaking your mind about shit that you see. Like "hey that lady paid for her groceries entirely with change, how fucking strange." Small example, but you get it. Lot's of life is really funny, if you stop and notice.

Try "Call-Back" humor.

Example: make a joke, then later in the interaction, reference the same joke but in a different context. Works really well with women (or anyone actually) and develops a great give-and-take playful conversation. And it works because only "you two" understand it. Great way to build rapport, as long as it's done in a non-try hard way.

It works well if done sparingly. 1-3 times tops in one conversation or else it looks like you're a weirdo.

If it's a push pull banter type of conversation, then answer in an elusive mysterious way. Or whatever witty callback humor you can use.

Understand how humor works, some situations are so surreal and absurd that once you see them every day and find patterns repeat every time you don't become crazy, you just laugh at them and that's how you develop amused mastery

Speed is key. Even if you only have a few (at first) canned one liners, being able to fire them off before anyone else can react makes you seem more funny. Even if it's something as lame as "thats what she said" or "yeah? Well y'know that's just like your opinion, man" or another pop culture reference/quote, being able to just get it out is very important. It needs to be reflexive. You basically need to just start saying whatever joke/comeback/funny thing as it comes to you before you've full had the thought.

Most Jokes are just Stories with a flip-flop on the developed frame of that story.

Think about it.

Other than that it's just practise & delivering it with confidence

Depends on how you are going to use your humor. Do you wana go RAW humor, dirty humor, clever / witty humor. Watch some standups on Netflix. Jo Koy is really good. Watch some old Nick Swardson stuff on youtube. Even old Dane Cook even though he's kind of a hack now. Find a style that works for you. Your humor is best when its comes from your own life and situations. My friend Derek is an excellent funny story teller, that's his thing.

Watch lots of stand-up and sitcoms. In everyday life, analyze ordinary social situations and come up with a witty line in your head. Do this enough and eventually you'll be comfortable enough spitting them out in front of people.
