I can confirm. I helplessly fell in love with someone before learning of TRP. Now, TRP aware and completely moved on, the love will always linger. I don't desire her anymore, but the love was too great for it to have been considered temporary. At least for me.

No but it morphs and evolves and doesn't move backwards. People who have been married 20 years will never be in love like they were when they first met, but they can have a much deeper and more profound love which is built on respect and appreciation, also adoration can still be there. I've seen it in older couples, most often in more traditional marriages where they work as much as business partners as lovers, making money and building a home and a family together, but I've also seen it a few times in older hippy artist types too.

There are very different notions that all get grouped in the word "love". Romantic love, as in being "in love", what ancient Greeks called Eros, which is the most intense form, does indeed subside after about 2 years.

Women don't have any other kind of love. Men also have caring, sacrificial love, what people call "true love".

Women are sweet, agreeable and showing care while "in love". After this phase, they are restless and behave shitty. That's why the best male strategy for relationships today is to change them after a few years.

Also, if you read a little about love, and its history; you will realise that in the greek god's arsenal, the God of Love was the most feared God of them all, and the reason being - is that love has the same effect on a person as Aizen's sword's special power in Bleach - It completely overtakes your sense of reality and changes it. Such an emotional state will last most likely for ever.

There is also the idea of memory and emotion.

The way our brain system functions stored thoughts is by how important they are. This is measured by how emotional a thought can make you - does it scare the shit out of you? Then it's important. If it makes you feel super happy, then its important. If you don't feel much, then it won't be remembered for too long. That's why PTSD is a thing... It's part of life.

My understanding is that love is a choice. It isn't about feelings .. those come and go by the minute. But to love someone goes beyond that. It's a choice. You choose to love your child, regardless of how similar they are to you and regardless of the life choices (good or bad) they make. You choose to love anyone in the same way.

It can last a lifetime if you let it dwell or it can be completely gone if you decide that is what you want. It's a choice. Whoever says otherwise is too weak to admit it, hasn't lived long enough or has serious problems (oneitis, scarcity mindset, pshychological disorders etc.).

if u fall in love for real the memories of that love will haunt you the rest of your life.

the infatuation and sexual lust can fade but that deeper feeling of contentment you get when the person you love snorts at your jokes, or lights up with a smile, or cries in your arms is a unique thing.

imo a man's love for a woman is deeper and heavier than a woman's love for a man, which can actually vanish for good.
