I get probably 95% of my girls from Tinder right now.

Most of the time I won't ask for a phone number at all. Why even bother? I have found that once we decide to meet up, it makes sense to switch to text but that's more logistical. Focus on doing all the normal shit you'd do to get a girl interested, try to meet up, and plan a date. Once that's done, it's a logical, casual step to just say, "Cool, what's your number?" Done.

Pro tip: you will get flaked on maybe 50% of the time. Cost of doing tinder business.

Rapport is different, but I've never had a problem with numbers...I just wait a bit after they say something, then tell them the stupid app doesn't update fast enough, so text me at xxxxxxx if they want to keep talking. Puts the onus on them, so if it's not going anywhere, I don't have to waste my time. That being said, I get a text shortly after probably...7/10 times.

Tinder crashed every 2 minutes for me, what's your number?

I havent used Tinder since February - but I did get a make out session on a first date- so I dont remember exactly how I did it. But I would always open with something like, "I'm new to this so I dont really know what I'm doing so um, hi?"

I got matched 10 times and got 7 responses but all 7 where positive. I usually asked thought provoking questions (questions that require more than a yes or no answer) such as what do yo do, where are you from, etc. I built some rapport and kept being funny. After maybe 5 or 6 messages on Tinder I asked for their number. I never asked to do skype, kik, or some other bullshit just straight up asked. Its pretty simple, what do you have to lose?

Honestly, Tinder wasnt worth it for me so I stopped using it and now I'm meeting girls the old fashioned way.

I think different things work for different people, how about trying "Hey I think you're pretty cool, do you want to exchange numbers? I prefer texting over tinder :)"?
