There's a difference between old school PUA like the Mystery Method, and new school PUA which focuses on inner game. Old school PUA was more focused on controlling women. There was stupid shit like negging to bring a girl down, and techniques to overcome last minute resistance in bed (creepy). New school PUA is about controlling yourself and your life to become an attractive male. Many women who have heard of PUA still associate it with negging and canned lines. And many guys read The Game, completely miss the point of the book, and then fake their way into an unatustainable relationship, or worse, a failed marriage. That's the end result of these "Jedi mind tricks." Because they're fake. They're canned. There's a reason Mystery is still sad and lonely. Don't buy into that crap. Keep working on yourself, live an attractive lifestyle, and you'll be much happier for it.

I don't believe that most guys will feel guilty when they have success because of "game", but people from the outside definitely look in and think that it can be manipulative. When in reality a guy isn't less deserving of sex and affection just because he's shy and lacking in confidence so long as he's willing to work on himself. I guess some people find this disingenuous.

If someone is thinking of the darker side of "game" that seeks to make up for character deficiencies by manipulating people.

I was reading something about people feeling guilty because of the apparent success they get from 'game'.

It made me think I must be doing it wrong, because they make it sound like a jedi mind trick or something!

No. You weren't doing it wrong. They were. Going down this road requires auctioning off part of who you are. The pay-off is that you increase your odds of "success."

The price:

Most of that "success," isn't success: most of the girls aren't actually in alignment with your values and what you actually want.
Your values and sense of self get more lost, the longer you stay on this path.
Self-loathing starts to grow and often hatred or mistrust for people in general, because it's too easy to see everyone as manipulative when one is manipulative.
As implied, you don't get to be yourself. All the games involve hiding who you are from her and from yourself. And the moment those games drop, the jig is up and the interaction goes down in flames soon after.

True. What you would consider the "light side" consists of these things. Though I'd add empathy is on this list.

If that's the case, why would anyone feel guilty from improved results as a by-product of displaying those behaviours?

Those posts are not simply guilt. As mentioned above, the price includes a lot of things including but not limited to self-loathing and mistrust for humanity. Sound like exaggeration? Lurk a little more: there are at least a handful of posts by guys like this every month: Some dude who doesn't know who he is anymore because he changes who he is just to get at a girl he soon discovers he doesn't want after he gets in there. Or another dude who doesn't know how to break the cycle and is tired of dating women who don't stick around when he drops the games.

Worse, there are guys around here who've just decided that all women are conniving, manipulative creatures who can't be trusted: a self-fulfilling prophecy because guys like this act in ways that repel trustworthy women away or inspire the most distrustful and manipulative relationships from girls who wouldn't otherwise had acted that way.

And if game is much much more powerful than that, then please teach me what I need to add to my game in order to manipulate these girls into sex at the click of a finger! :)

No. You can easily find this stuff online if you really are that hard up for sex, but I could not in good conscience direct a person down a path that is so damn destructive to the person walking it and everyone they encounter.

Don't believe me? Look at two of the originators of this path, often called the "Mystery Method." Style had to check himself into therapy because of the damage he did to himself. Sounds like he's lucky he didn't destroy his marriage. And Mystery, who the method is named after, had a bit of a meltdown after the mother of his child, was refusing to let him see his children.

And these were the experts.
