I’m currently in Oxford right now studying abroad for the summer. I’ve been trying to practice some cold approach and I feel like it’s not an accepted thing here. Not just to cold approach but to randomly start a conversation with people (men or women) in general. I just approached these three women and simply said whats up. They laughed and said “you can’t do that...” and I asked what. They said “you can’t just say hi” I smiled and left. I’m not if they were being serious or not. I kinda took it as you can’t just say hi to strangers.

I was also thinking in general anywhere that maybe cold approaching is not accepted thing socially in most places anywhere. A lot of people feel uncomfortable (including myself) when we randomly get approached by people (men or women). As an example I was at a nightclub last night simply to enjoy the music and dance on my own. When it got more crowded and I hardly had any personal space I had people touching me, grabbing me, asking me if Im having a good time, etc... and I felt a bit uncomfortable because it was in a place I’ve never been before and I don’t know the people and why theyre doing what they do. A more simple example would be, not long ago this guy approached me while I’m having lunch. He asked me if I was in college? I responded yes and he continued by advertising something and left. I felt a bit uncomfortable even though I was in public mainly because I didn’t know what was going on till the end of his speech. I also just didn’t care. I just wanted to finish my food and go finish some assignments.
