I was at the beach by myself last week. I'm pretty pale, so I have to put sunblock on. I have no one to put any on my back, but there are two groups of people near me. One is three middle aged-older ladies and a toddler, the other is a chick sitting by herself. From where I'm at I can't tell how attractive she is, but her body is decent.

I slowly walk up to the lone chick, bottle of suntan lotion in hand. I can see now that she's probably 5-7 years older than me (I'm 23), she's decent looking but not anything to brag about. We'll call it HB6

Me: "Hi, can you do me a favor and put some sunscreen on my back?"

Her: "Uh....really? I guess"

Me: "I got my whole front side but I can't get my back. You don't want me to have a weird tan, do you?"

Her: "I'll do it but this is weird."

Me: "What, was I supposed to ask them? pointing to older group That would be even more awkward for me. Sorry, but I'm making it awkward for you smirk on face.

Her: laughing "Ok"

Me: give her the sunblock, she starts putting some on my back "What are you reading?"

Her: "Nothing exciting, it's work related."

Me: "Shouldn't you be at work or something?" (it was thursday around 1 in the afternoon)

Her: "Well I'm opening a restaurant, but it's not ready yet"

Me: "That's intense! I worked in restaurants for about 5 years."

Her: "What kind of restaurant?"

The conversation continued a little bit, but then she finished applying sunscreen. I said thanks and walked away.

Things I did right:

  • Approached (Hey, this is a big deal!)
  • Good body language
  • Wouldn't let her set the frame that the situation was weird

Things I did wrong:

  • Bad vocal tone/projection
  • Ejected too early

Any comments folks? I'm just happy that I approached and didn't end up getting sunburned.
