Are there significant cultural differences between Eastern Europe and Western countries in terms of how women act in public?

I’m American.
In my younger years, Used to be 6 pack fit from swimming and being active.

Moved to Europe for work.
People, not just women, They don’t smile at you like we do here is the USA. It’s amazingly refreshing after a while.

Walking down the street or on the trolly car. People just stay in the lane. May make eye contact but won’t outright smile and hold the gaze.

When I first met my wife, walked up to her at bar. Tapped her on the shoulder and asked to buy her a drink.

She told me to “go fuck myself, I don’t drink beer”

It was love at first site.

Yes, there are massive cultural differences when it comes to smiling in public. In Eastern Europe and Russia, smiling in public is seen as... stupid, to put it mildly. I have had people tell me, more explicitly, that someone randomly smiling at strangers in public must be a sign of mental illness or inferior intellect. So don't expect the "smiling as a sign of attraction" thing to work well over there

Don't. Wait. For. Signals. That's my biggest takeaway of living and dating in Russia. Be a man who makes things happen. Approach women, flirt and entertain. The rewards will follow.

Trying to think about cultural differences is a waste of time. Just be confident and do your thing. Trying to tailor your game based on culture/city/race/ethnicity will drive you nuts.

Also don't worry about eye contact. Just go approach anyway. Women are never going to invite you to approach them.
