Last night was miserable.

I'd been having some success, some kiss closes, number closes. One of my friends told me that he was the best guy he knew at picking up girls. My confidence was high and I was going out a lot. Good, right?

Soon though, I started getting blown out more and more. A girl would deny me and I'd get frustrated. I started chasing girls instead of having them chase me. And that just made me try even harder, to prove to myself and the people around me that I really can pick up.

I had been working out less, hungover most days, stopped reading, stopped eating healthy. All because I was out drinking all the time and CHASING it. The past month I've only been focusing on getting laid, without caring about much else.

Today I realized that this is a GAME, and should be treated that way.

Like any game, it's supposed to be fun. But you can also learn about yourself through it. If you're just in it for the validation, you'll never be any good. Like any great sports player, you have to love the game, playing the game, not just receiving trophies.

This game isn't only about going out to the bar and picking up trophies. You play this game by making yourself better and making other people better. You get the trophies, the sex, the validation when you can do that. But only when you can do that. If your focus is on getting laid, getting the trophy, without doing anything to improve yourself, you'll always lose.
