Her dating Ben was the ultimate PR power move. Literally no one was talking about how her last relationship ended once she was back with Ben. She wasn’t a jilted lover. She wasn’t used goods. No one cares about her ex at all anymore. As soon as she has someone better lined up she’ll be off with them.

I’m not being treated like an exotic animal, more like a stupid, hostile one. Maybe it’s generational trauma coming out, but I’m feeling some type of way about this. My great-grandfather Otto was imprisoned during AND after WW1 for being from the A-H empire by the Canadian government and used as indentured labour. Our family were called the “stupid Galicians” by the English settlers who came after us. I’m angry that I’ve been thrust back into that by ignorant assholes.

As someone with a stereotypical Russian first name, I feel this. If we want to split hairs, the great-grandmother I’m named after came from Austria, though that area is now part of Ukraine. She spoke Ukrainian along with 9 other languages and dialects, none of them Russian. I am in touch with my Ukrainian family. They currently live in Lviv, and are safe for now. I am 3rd generation Canadian, with other heritage mixed in, and I can’t believe I had to put “not Russian” on my social media and expl…

I went on one date with a guy who made it pretty clear he wasn’t going to have time to actually date. He didn’t say it, but he just wanted a bed warmer for when he tumbled into bed at midnight and left it at 4 am. I laughed all the way to the block button. It’s funny because I accomplished more than him, despite being younger and, you know, actually having a life outside of my work and passions.

“Men calling themselves feminists is as cringe-worthy as a white person calling themselves a Black Panther.” A comment made by another FDS-er a few months back. How men respond to this statement has been very telling in my life.

Reading about Anna put me back on my heels a bit, because I pulled some of that kind of stuff when I was in school/interning in New York. I really needed the free food… it’s really sad that the richer you appear the more free things you are offered. Tbh, I’ve kept some of these behaviours, and can say I’ve never paid for most of my dates… in my pickme days I even offered and they said no lol.

I discovered a style of bra that is the best of both worlds. It actually took me a few weeks to get used to my nipples being visible, but I knew I was never going back to regular bras. These are too comfortable. It wasn’t any sort of activism on my part, unless you count me tossing out all bras with padding or shaping as a statement.

Ugh, same. I get called “grandma” a lot. I just fire back with “punk rock grandma” before I next them. It’s hilarious, because other women do not think I’m girly-femme at all. The clothes I make slap you in the face, my food is bold and diverse, and my writing is suspenseful and non-romantic. There’s nothing “traditional” about me. Men who can’t or won’t see that aren’t worth my time.

I completely understand this. I actually deactivated my Facebook recently because I couldn’t deal with my inbox getting filled up by randoms. I literally had only one public post, that said “If I don’t know you, a mutual friend didn’t introduce you, and I didn’t invite you to reach out to me, don’t send a friend request or messages.” I guess they all thought they should be the exception…

I have two, one with a different area code so I can lie and say I’m not from my city. It’s amazing how many of them insist on texting or calling immediately to see if you gave them a fake. I’ll flash my phone at them to prove it’s “real” before excusing myself and blocking them lol

You can’t train people how you want to be treated. Men, friends, whatever. Pushing back just helps them potentially hide their true selves for longer. I just leave behind or minimize contact with anyone that doesn’t care enough about me or my actions to see what I do.

In my early 20’s I had a hard time articulating why men complimenting my appearance rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn’t until I’d had a few longer relationships under my belt that I realized most men don’t have the language or understanding to compliment anything else a woman does. Unless you’re the “cool girl” they’re really at a loss. I spent time learning about their hobbies and interests so I would be able to converse with them, but they never made the same effort. I absolutely hate when I’ve…

I appreciate this sentiment, but it’s just a slow race to nothing usually. Find someone that matches the energy you want to bring to a relationship. Otherwise, move on. You can’t train someone how you want to be treated like this.

The anxiety shows when I can’t seem to bring myself to interact with them anymore. I can’t send another message, answer a phone call, or plan another date. I just can’t do it. My subconscious goes into self-protect mode. I’m an exceedingly stubborn human, and I don’t respond well to being pushed. The first time it happened, the guy was essentially planning my life for me, acting like I had no idea what I wanted or needed. He told me to move with him to another city (isolation), to switch careers…

I’ve run into a couple of these. They trigger my anxiety that something awful is up pretty hard so I run away. Trust your instincts ladies, it wasn’t until I was a few weeks out and could look back clearly that I realized what exactly was going on.

I relate to this. I never grew out of playing dress-up, so half the time I’m wandering around looking like a comic-book villain. I make a lot of my own clothes and accessories so I can lean even more into the costume side of dressing. If all the men suddenly disappeared I’d probably dress even wilder, tbh. Comfort is paramount for me though, I refuse to wear things that require fussy bras, thongs, boning or corsetry, etc… my lingerie drawer would be impossibly boring to the male gaze. Purely uti…

As far as I’m concerned, they had literal centuries when they were in power and they did nothing to help themselves. Now that women are making our own power, suddenly we have to care about and fix the men too? Yeah, no, fuck that, they’re as on their own as they left us.

Aren’t women statistically better investors? My portfolio does fairly well because I only buy into what I know. I understand how the fashion industry and retail sector works, so that’s the area I stay within. I read industry newsletters and know how people respond to changes in the world so I can more accurately buy and sell to make money. I’d be a fish out of water elsewhere. So many dudes refuse to define their expertise and limitations. I horrified reading this post.

Yes! I do this with everyone in my life, and my time has really become my own again. I pull out of group chats I’m added to, I tell men I don’t have text conversations, and I let my friends know I won’t always reply regularly to messages. Don’t tell men these things about yourself. Don’t tell them you’re a bitch, don’t tell them you’re stubborn, don’t tell them you’re never going to sleep with them, don’t say you’re better than them. Let them tell you about themselves, and you change your actions to suit what they say and the environment. I don’t understand how men are so bad at giving gifts. I love all the gifts my friends make or buy for me. I have rarely liked and been downright insulted by most of what my former boyfriends have tried to pass off as gifts. Only one guy actually paid enough attention to me to get things I loved. This is 100% the biggest hurdle I run into as a childfree woman. I will never cave on this boundary, but it’s absolutely astounding how many men who have or want kids pretend not to have read it, or heard it, and see how much of my time they can take before I finally get them to admit it. I remember the attention from men starting at 10 for me, and it always left me with a cold, sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. That feeling impacted how I dressed (no tanks, no shorts, nothing tight) for years. It never stopped the attention, but I felt I had some control over the situation. I was a late bloomer, puberty really kicked off for me at 14, so I was trapped in that state where pedos loved me for far too long. Looking back after I cut him off I noticed he had been mirroring some of my behaviours back at me, not in a flirty way, but a retaliatory one. I really dodged that bullet. Examples: I asked him not to text after 9, so he texted at 5am instead. I also hinted at a story I wanted to tell him but that I was saving it for a date because it would be too long to text. It’s on my dating profile. And yes, I will find a way to work it in again during the first date. Being on the same page about kids is an extremely important part of compatibility. Well, according to the debate I’m currently having on PPD, we should not be dating older men, or the top 20-30% of men at all if we don’t want kids. Because they all want kids. Apparently it’s my fault men keep lying to me about their non-childfree status because I keep trying to date top men.

Why do men lie about their desire to have children, or hide children they already have?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/22 02:56 PM

All the women I know, including me, read profiles extremely carefully, especially what is being said between the lines. Not reading is definitely more of a male behaviour.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/22 12:15 AM

I am trying to find one of those men. It’s much harder when so many men are willing to LIE and HIDE their kids or want of them. I’m not going after older men, nothing there I want. My comment was about all the guys who don’t tell me they have or want children until after I have gone on dates with them. That doesn’t seem like “top men” behaviour, hiding who they really are, now does it?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/01/22 11:59 PM

Yup. Definitely had a guy hide a whole 12 year old from me lol

Or they think that once I’ve invested some time in them, after a few dates, that I will accept a casual relationship over the committed long-term one I’m actually looking for. That’s usually what it is. Sometimes they are hoping they or their kids are special enough I’ll still commit to a serious relationship, but those are more rare. I hate both experiences rather equally.

I do. Of course I do. They then lie and wait until after the first or first few dates to tell me that they aren’t childfree themselves. I write it in multiple places on my dating profile, and I’m upfront with that info if I meet them in person.

Spot on with your last point. OP is also missing that we aren’t comparing women to each other when we are giving compliments. When I say a woman is looking great, I don’t mean she looked better than other people, I mean she looks great for her. We know that not everyone is Angelina Jolie, but we also know that doesn’t really matter. If you’ve taken the time to care for yourself and like how you look, that’s all that matters, and I’m going to compliment that energy.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/22 06:46 PM

It’s honestly shameful how often I’ve ended up looking down on someone who said they were 5’11+. If they tell me they are 6’ I also show up as 6’. I was set up on a double date by a friend and her boyfriend once where the guy asked them to downplay his size. Big man from a bigger family, I guess he hated being intimidating when it came to women. I should have not dated him, the ability to downplay things severely was a feature in our brief relationship.

I was at a small show a couple months back, and we had a giant daddy gay in the crowd running interference on any dude that started making girls uncomfortable. All he would do is exactly what the guy had done to a girl. I was heaving with laughter watching these little dramas unfold. I’m all for diversity in characters and stories. I’m just not here for policing illustration styles. Why can’t characters have exaggerated features? Why does everything have to look perfectly realistic? Cartoons have bigger eyes so that we can clearly see they emotions they are projecting, that has almost nothing to do with a beauty ideal. What about anthropomorphized animal characters? How human do we have to make those look? What if artists include features from the animals that fall under a b…

What do you propose then? Do networks build guidelines for the content so only cartoons with realistic depictions get shown? Do we put warning labels on toys? How do we get artists worldwide to change styles they’ve been developing for decades? Or is this a classic chicken/egg scenario… if you’ve dabbled in art theory, you’ll be familiar with the idea that illustrators document the zeitgeist rather than create it. We didn’t make these ideals, we are just putting pen to paper to record them. And …

I’m sure this is a great video, but I tapped out pretty quickly when she started spewing tired old misinformation about corsetry. She was so close to the truth there, the photos of “tightlacers” were altered to look like that. The photo was the illusion, not a tight laced corset. I’m also a little frustrated that she’s coming after illustrations? Are they a bit problematic? Yeah, I guess, but does anyone really compare themselves to drawings? Maybe I’m not the one to comment on this because I’ve…

A lot of guys can’t seem to accept that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. If you’re building muscle to be more attractive, there is a point where they will get diminishing returns for their efforts. Chris Hemsworth is hot, but so is Tom Hiddleston. Most men could get Tom’s physique.

Everything from murder mysteries to bad teen movies are being discussed. The makeup application is largely irrelevant to the popularity of the videos, and in a lot of cases it seems to be used to keep male audiences away. Which is how I use makeup myself. Glitter and bold, glossy lips are abhorrent to most straight men.

This is usually at the heart of that behaviour. Once in a while they talk like that because they have disordered eating themselves. I swear most male and female body builders have real issues with food.

This is why I cut men out the second they make a comment about my body or eating habits. I’ve never had disordered eating and I’ve always been pretty comfortable with how my body looks, but even with that self confidence I won’t put it even for a second. I hate the “wow, I love a woman who can eat” bullshit too. Where do you think this booty came from Frank? Butter and deadlifts tyvm. Egg donations too. The hormones that need to be pumped into a body to make that happen can’t be good. And as far as I’m aware, there have been no long term studies on the effects. Do they cause cancer? Who knows. Do they cause infertility down the road? Who knows!

I had to prune quite a few over the years, but I’ve been left with a core group of talented, brilliant, no-nonsense ladies, more focused on saving the world than marrying a prince. I really like the one from the Ordinary. A few of their serums have a high concentration of it as well. Pro-tip: blend the HA and your facial oil together in the palm of your hand, it has ingredients that actually help the oils penetrate the surface of your skin rather than just sit on top.

This is so fucking true. Probably 80% of the dates I’ve been on happened because the guy didn’t bother to read or cared about what was on my dating profile. Men truly do not understand the toll that children take on women’s bodies and lives. He posted this a few hours after I sent the texts to cut him off. https://i.imgur.com/FXhvISm.jpg Translation: “I offer nothing of value to a relationship but a warm body and some pillow talk. Please look at me with admiring eyes now thnkx” It’s funny, because I’ve accomplished more than him, and do more in a day, but somehow I have time to connect with people who are important to me. Ah well, at least I know this is how he treats everyone. Also lied about livi…

Drives me nuts. I can’t stand guys who keep trying to escalate when I move their hands away from areas I don’t want touched. Like, what do you think changed from two minutes ago, when I took your hands off my boobs, and from two minutes before that, etc... just fucking stop and kiss me. I leave now, when they repeat an action like that. They always look so confused, like, do you understand body language?

Do it! I’m finally getting solid streaks of white around my face and I’m living for them. Granted, I have dark ash blonde hair and they still look like highlights, but I know they’re white and love them and that’s what matters. We need more women to embrace silver hair.

I deleted all the apps a month or so ago, and I’m never downloading them again. I thought they would be a better option to find guys who don’t want children, but I was very wrong. Going back to the old fashioned way, find a man who has the balls to approach someone like me in public or via my network.

Funny, I ended up here because I’m attractive and accomplished to the point where so many men are willing to lie and deceive in order to get even a taste of being with me. If they really thought they were above me that wouldn’t need to happen. FDS is the bat I needed to keep them all away. No more nice girl until they’ve earned her.

I found out a guy I just cut off only reads one book over and over and over again. Just the one self help book, 10 pages a day, for years. It would never occur to him to expand into maybe creative non-fiction (biographies, history, etc...) that would be helpful to his “career”. He was hot but my vagina clamped closed after I found that out. He also would draw himself up a fake cheque on days when he didn’t have actual money coming in so he could feel paid. You’re right that I had grown up around that behaviour. My older brothers friends all did stuff like this (my bro would never, tho) and I thought it was pretty normal and expected it. Sports and video games turned gentle boys into fighters.

More than ok :) it pushed me to make a major career risk. I had flashbacks for about a year, but something about living my dream life in NYC far away from him and his asswipe friends made it all better. Every man I’ve dated after, while not perfect, were teddy bears and wouldn’t have hurt me even if I’d asked them to.

This was the massive red flag I was dumb enough to laugh off in my first relationship. Yes, I thought it was hilarious that he smashed his gaming controllers into the wall after I beat him, and slammed doors when he questioned something that I turned out to be right about. I also laughed off the red flag of him asking to be tied up and wanting me to peg and hurt him. Totally fucked up dude, and I ended up bloody in a foreign country, terrified and alone. God I was so stupid.

I’ve stepped up in situations like this before. The worst was watching THREE men get a girl (legal age is 18 here) shitfaced at a bar. They were practically pouring it down her throat, passing her increasingly limp body from lap to lap. I grabbed a bouncer and the bar manager to observe this with me and the men were grabbed by their shirts and tossed on their asses. My boyfriend and I stayed with her till her mother came to take her home. I have hauled girls out of back rooms and bathroom stalls…

Somehow I ended up working in the fashion industry, mostly as a designer. Again I ask, if divorce rates for large age gaps are so high, how are they safer? They are statistically more likely to end sooner too. There are so many reasons for that. Dating within 5 (maybe up to 8) years of your age is going to end better for everyone involved. That’s what the women here who want a forever relationship and families need to be working towards, not internalizing fear over losing attractiveness as they age and fretting away said youth. Do you have any statistics to back any of this up? You’re the one telling me that all men would sleep with young women if they could. Having age of consent laws at all suggests that there were enough older people preying on youths that it was deemed legally necessary to stop them. Take them away and we get child brides, and even one of those is unacceptable. I truly cannot trust a 40 year old man who would sleep with an 18 year old, because they are also notoriously bad at guessing women’s ages. Read widely and interact with a variety of people. It will happen naturally that way. I’ve found daily journaling to be helpful as well.
