I agree, balance is an overlooked concept here. I mention it from time to time, the fact of reputation. The true sociopath eventually is outcast. If you get caught being an asshole, or massaging your reputation, it will damage you. But being nice all the time... well that's why we're all here. I want to do a post on this at some point. There is this mysterious balance in the universe. Eastern philosophy calls it Yin Yang. Very overlooked in the west I think.

Stoic philosophy is more to do with controlling your emotions, how you percieve the world around you. Keep failing job interviews? I've come to the conclusion that no one really knows what's going on. 'monk mode'® is recognised, so is harder to shout down as an imperative. Depends how you define diet. When I talk about 'my diet' I just mean eating clean, like you. People will ask about 'my diet', even though I'm not 'on a diet'. I don't count calories either anymore. There are so many ways you can do it, and many of them will work. What matters is consistency, commitment. In that sense, when you say 'going on a diet', you only mean fad, and poorly designed diets. So bad dieting is temporary. Your current diet certainly is not. What else would you call it?

There's no special religious agenda here. Most members are probably irreligious. Sometimes the traditionalist ideas overlap. The bible is made up of some useful heuristics I suppose. They didn't have evo-pysch, but they had intuitive ideas on what worked. EDIT: Regardless, you have a working bullshit filter - keep it on. Some other members here are too happy to accept the ideas at face value. Questioning is healthy.

It's a positive blip; but a blip is what it is. Think of a graph with a negative gradient. Over certain ranges you might see positive trends. But the overall trend is negative. While he's better than a lot of the rap out there, he's basically a dude that uses a lot of intellectual sounding words. If you sit down and actually hear what he's saying there's not a lot to it. He's got some story telling ability I'll give you that.
