I would agree with you. I think women need to learn the manipulative tactics of these men so that they can identify and side step immediately. Men who require manipulation for a means to an end clearly do it because they have flawed character. We are better than that.

Oh for sure. They don't change. The NVM of my past is now dating a 20 year old and he's 28..... They just move on to prey that doesn't see their BS until it's likely too late for her.

It really is sickening how accountability is side-swept so easily. That's why it doesn't surprise me that the most outwardly religious men turn out to be human scum. I cannot imagine the trauma both girls went through and are likey still healing from today. I hope he rots in prison.

This is something I always wonder about too. Really goes to show how powerful indoctrination is but also how cognitive dissonance can be subdued due to the eroding of critical thinking skills by that indoctrination. Very dangerous, imo.

You're so right. I'm exhausted feeling like I have to be an unpaid therapist to my friends to be considered a good friend. Will provide support but keep my opinions to myself. I feel I'll be able to conserve so much more energy and I'll be unbothered by little things that currently annoy me (the subject of this post, case in point). Thank you!

Thanks for your input! Yes, that definitely did make sense and helped me reflect on how I reacted. It's difficult when this keeps coming up over and over and I start feeling like a broken record and she continues to not listen to my advice. Very frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time doing so. But, I know I really have to continue working on giving others the dignity of going through their own lessons and experiences.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/12/20 06:01 PM
15

Yeah, that's hard. It's tough because you really want to be there for them as a friend but they aren't truly understanding what you're advising so it becomes difficult (for me personally) on how to continue to maneuver through the relationship. I am continuing to learn how to give people the dignity to make their own mistakes.

Because she understands that the risks of doing so severely outweigh the benefits. The priority is staying safe during a very real threat to humanity and doing your part in that, not attempting to find a mate. What's the chance that you will be going on a date with a HVM? Very very very slim. Would he even be high value if he's putting others at risk? Hell no.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/11/20 05:38 AM

Hahah exactly. A grown ass man "DESTROYING" college students only to make himself feel better because he knows his winky is small and he wouldn't stand a chance in an honest argument. His debate tactics are sleazy and seem bulletproof to the dimwitted. He talks fast so it goes over most of these cavemen's heads. My favorite video of his, after the utterly amazing OWN on BBC by Andrew Neil is the one where benji is like "let's say the water levels rise five feet along the coast. People that are a…

Absolutely. I had never been exposed to Ben Shapiro until a LVM in my past introduced me to him and I was so confused about why this I-inhaled-helium-sounding man was hailed as an intellectual, buttressed by his motto "facts don't care about your feelings." He is the exact opposite. If you disagree with tHe BeN SHaPiRo then you're a "liberal snowflake." *eyeroll* Makes me gag.

So happy for you! This is a wonderful headspace to be in. When you truly love yourself and understand your worth, these things don't bother you. Also, social media is so skewed. Most of these relationships are actually not as happy and loving as they may seem. I've learned to take everything with a grain of salt.

nope. it def sounds like that though lol. GirlDefined is a YouTube channel run by two sisters, Bethany and Kristen, who are Christians. They use the channel as a ministry and for young, Christian girls.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/10/20 06:00 PM

I am as baffled as you are, sis. I haven't been following her relationship religiously (pun intended) but found out about it on another subreddit. I'm not really sure why she went after this Ukrainian dude but I think her family knew of him and she was getting desperate to get engaged. Apparently her and Andrii have known each other for 10 months and been together for like.. 4 of those 10. With this being a LDR, they've only seen each other in person a handful of times. She also said she would g…

Yuuuuuup. Kristen and Bethany from GirlDefined. Blech. Elissa is their sister. I heard that gay conversion therapy rumor too. Their "ministry" targeting young, impressionable girls is so damaging.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/10/20 04:51 AM

I think the only exception should really be if the woman has another support system in the country she would be moving to and if she has the ability to support herself in that country if the marriage or engagement were to fall apart.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/10/20 03:36 AM

lol, it's like this post was made for Ellissa Baird from the GirlDefined family who just recently got engaged to Andrii and is moving to Ukraine for him because she is desperate to be a submissive Christian wife. A Texan moving to Ukraine FOR A MAN... not knowing anyone else, not knowing the language, not knowing the culture.... tragic. A disaster waiting to happen.

I just posted this yesterday lol.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/10/20 01:50 AM

Yeah, I definitely understand that. Minority women are at the bottom of the societal totem pole, but imo, that's why making our boundaries even stronger and "auditioning" people like Evy talks about in the video are that much more crucial. We don't have time for BS because there is too much to fight against systemically.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/10/20 05:04 PM

Ugh YES! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I hate the stupid concept that "age is nothing but a number." Absolute bull. Getting attention from an older guy IS NOT A COMPLIMENT. He will use and abuse you without you realizing! He doesn't love you, he loves the POWER he has over you! What healthy, mature man in his late 20s/early 30s would want to even entertain a relationship with someone still in her late teens/early 20s? Legally, you may be an adult, but mentally and emotionally, you're still so naiv…

This is so incredibly true. I remember a conversation with a LV ex I had about how being feminist means wanting equality in cerebral opportunity and he made a fuss about not being a feminist because of the "current left movement that promotes man-hating and women superiority." I just - Should not have wasted brain energy on attempting to educate that scrote. Take it where it will matter. And dump these losers.

I am in agreement with you, OP. I cannot speak to the experience of being Muslim as I am not someone who follows Islam but as an individual who has voraciously studied Abrahamic religions out of curiosity, I think it is very hard to reconcile the misogyny expressed in these religions with the principles that are held by FDS. People will participate in cognitive dissonance due to their inability to want to unravel a lot of indoctrination that has occurred, usually without them even realizing. Peo…

If he says you both can get married if you're both single at 30.... or whatever age. If he says you're "marriage material" but makes no moves to make that a reality. If he treats you like a gf in private but refers to you as a "good friend" in public. If it's been more than 1-3 months of you regularly talking and he has not made any true investments to escalate the relationship. IF IT AIN'T A HAIL YES, IT'S A HAIL NO! BOI BYYYYYYYEEEEEE ✌️✌️✌️

I understand that, sis. I think I had misunderstood the specifics of what a pickmeisha is. I thought she is someone who goes above and beyond for male validation and thrives off of it, sacrificing herself in the process. But I now have acknowledged the distinction between thriving off male validation vs actively seeking it to validate yourself, putting other women down in the process. I appreciate your thoughts and for helping me reach this clarification.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/08/20 07:31 PM
2

Yeah, I saw that. I don't know why they're down voting you when you're trying to explain/clarify, but don't take it personally. We're all wanting you to kick this guy out and stop the cycle of codependency. <3
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/08/20 03:02 AM
6

Hey sis. Firstly, I think you know deep down that what you're experiencing isn't right. That's why you posted on the sub and why you titled your post the way you did. Secondly, I want to tell you that buying people/validation into your life is not what will keep people in your life. They will be in your life for the wrong reasons. We can already clearly see that through this interaction with this NVM. Thirdly, after reading through all the comments, you have the choice to either listen to these …

She's definitely not FDS but I have been introducing FDS concepts to her slowly and that's been pretty well-received. Personality-wise she comes off very fake from what people have told me since she's very bubbly, but because I know her, I know that her personality isn't fake. I think it definitely rubs people the wrong way because she can definitely be interpreted as a suck-up. I am not like that whatsoever, so perhaps it's just a disconnect between how she expresses pride in herself vs. how I …
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/08/20 11:50 PM

I can honestly say I am not jealous. That's true, she should be able to brag to me, but I also think there's a distinction between someone who is proud of herself and joyfully sharing that with a friend and someone who is doing so to validate herself because she's insecure. At the end of the day, she's been a great supportive and encouraging friend to me and I will continue to be that for her. I think I was just trying to determine if this annoyance with bragging is more of a me thing than a her…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/08/20 11:45 PM

I think you hit the nail on the head with the differences in expression. I wouldn't say I'm the most confident person out there but am definitely still working on it. However, to me, it seems kinda unnecessary to have to brag about how awesome you are if you already KNOW that internally. I hope that makes sense. As her friend, I know that she's great and that she's capable and strong, having to tell me that over and over just makes me wonder if she truly is. Also, when it comes to guys, she's do…

2

She's living with him temporarily but as to her behavior with him so far, I'm not too sure about that. She has told me that she always tries to bring him gifts though. This past year is the first year she's been single over the past 10 years. She's always been in a relationship and has monkey-barred from one to another. Yeah, I can definitely see how that's overcompensation. I really feel like that's what she's doing to assuage some kind of internal lack. I always validate her when she brags to …
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/08/20 11:29 PM

She definitely is confident, but at times I wonder if someone who is truly confident has to brag about it? If you were truly confident and internally validated, would sharing how awesome you are all the time really be necessary?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/08/20 11:23 PM
6

Yeah, I agree with you. I think I was misunderstanding what a pick-me is. I thought she's someone who bends over backward for male validation and prides herself on how many guys are into her. I appreciate your insight. I definitely am and will continue to work on bettering myself and want to make sure that my feelings of annoyance aren't projections of insecurities within myself.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/08/20 11:21 PM
2

Definitely. Friend break ups hurt a lot more because of that bond you had established. Sometimes though, the hard thing to do is the right thing to do and the thing that needs to be done. At the end of the day, it's about you and what you allow in your life. Best of luck, sis!

Wow, I can definitely understand how that must be so incredibly frustrating to deal with. I think you should start distancing yourself even though that's going to be a difficult move. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your mental health/sanity attempting to tell your friend the same thing over and over and over and her not take the advice after the nth time. Perhaps she will realize when you start to leave her life. And if she doesn't, then honestly it will a blessing in disguise.

The only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I hope I didn't come off judgey or condemn-y (lol, not a word but you get it) in my attempt to explain my frustration. She does make a wonderful point though about giving people the dignity of going through their own process. I also need to work on staying within my boundaries and not overstepping.

I am glad to hear that!! I think religion really can be quite toxic if you take in a lot of the messages without thinking critically about them. More power to you on your journey to leveling up!

Ugh, this makes me want to barf.

Yes!! Before finding FDS, I had such a scarcity mentality when it came to men. Never approached frequently, didn't have many men in my friend circle, etc. Now that mentality did a complete 180 where I literally have no man in my life right now and it's blissful because it's my choice!!

This resonated with me so hard I feel like screaming it from the rooftop.

Valid points. And yes, I told her that she can forgive but not let him in her life but her motive is very weird to me. She's using his words (whether they're actually true or not) to validate her pain and that sounds to me like something she has to work on herself rather than something I can really help her with. I let her know that I'm here for her if she needs me. Taking a step back now.

Yep. Of course. At the end of the day, we are the master of our own lives and make decisions based on what's best for us. Most ladies on this sub know that blocking truly is the best option from our own experiences, often bad experiences of having not blocked. I just wanted her to circumvent that. I won't fight it anymore though. Like many have said, you can bring a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/08/20 11:22 PM

For sure. However, I think it's more of this idea of feeling like something "good," aka her believing that this experience "changed him" (I HIGHLY doubt that's actually the case) justifies the pain she went through for him to "change." Like it's fine if she got hurt as a result of this because he ALLEGEDLY became a better man. All signs still point to no self-respect on her part, in my opinion.

Good point. I will utilize this in the future if necessary. Thank you!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/08/20 09:59 PM

Very true. The only thing that irks me is that ultimately when things crumble and she realizes blocking was the best option, she'll be coming back to me to help her heal from her own self-inflicted pain. I'm not one to say "toldja so" but will definitely be thinking it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/08/20 09:58 PM

Thank you!!! I thought she was using her faith as an excuse too! So annoying. And when I asked her how he had shown he had changed, she said he'd done nothing but cHoSe tO BeLieVe hE Is a ChAnGed pErSoN nOW and "wants to continue talking to him to know that the pain she went through was worth it." LIKE WHAT?!?!

Ugh, he sounds absolutely terrible. How do you even keep your cool and stay out? I I would get so frustrated, especially if my sister was in a relationship with someone like that. It sucks to feel like you're just waiting for it to fail. Biting my tongue is so hard for me to do at times.

One of my favorite quotes is a line from Eat, Pray, Love: "Ruin is the road to transformation." You are at a point in your life now where things feel like they've fallen apart and honestly, the only way out is to really self-reflect and better yourself for the future. I think this is a powerful time for you. It can feel sad and overwhelming, especially since there is more scrutiny on you in your circumstance. However, use that scrutiny positively by holding yourself accountable for your actions …

This happened to me too! Honestly, I think the only thing that really helped was time. When I really stopped thinking about him, even slightly, was when I no longer felt like I still craved him while on my period. Try to redirect your thoughts to someone or something else. If that doesn't work, just keep reminding yourself of how terrible he was and hopefully that kills the libido for him. Stay strong sis!

I'm not sure if this was a neg, but I think it fits the general theme. After telling me he would never date a "non-Christian" he said, "do you want me even more now that you know you can't have me?"

So true. I've realized that in my desire to be understanding and "see both sides of a situation," I've been eroding what I know I deserve to the point where anything goes at this point. I need to work on sticking to my standards but also being understanding, not sacrificing one for the other. Thank you!

When I realized I was in a situationship and was being led on. He would call me "his girl" in private but "good friend" in public. Said that he would never date a non-Christian and then continued to treat me like I was his gf and would future fake. He said we could get married if we were both single at 30. LOL. The last straw was when I had left some restaurant leftovers at his place and asked him to drop them off the next day. Instead of bringing them to me, he decided it was a "good idea" to l…

I'm sorry that you experienced that, but glad you got out! You're right, she likely won't listen, especially since it seems like she's blocking out anything that is against whatever she currently feels. I don't think this is a battle I should continue fighting. Am I wrong for thinking this is going too fast though?

I decided to get yall's advice because there was a part of me that knew if I were in her shoes, I'd want someone to have told me about him, especially since she's so young. But that is a gem of a truth: people need to learn on their own. There is no guarantee she will listen to me either. Not my circus, not my monkey. Thanks for your thoughts! ❤

You are right. I don't know why I hadn't thought of the jealousy angle. My gut was saying to stay silent but I second guessed myself from these other voices of mutual friends. Going to stick to my gut and follow this advice. The mutual friend can be handled. This person doesn't really add to my life in any amazing manner so I think cutting it off is the way to go. Removing anything and everything that would still allow news about this trash guy to infiltrate my life. Thank you for your advice, s…
