Oh gosh, I don't think I could ever narrow down everything I listen to. My Google Play radio stations range from Chopin to Wu Tang Clan to Zac Brown Band to Miranda Lambert to Of Montreal to Debussy to Stevie Ray Vaughan to Ke$ha... ...you get the picture. I think flexibility is important.

Yay Camille! Congrats! I too thought she was already a mod, maybe just in the IRC? Either way, she seems like she'll be a wonderful addition to the team. :)

I may be biased, but I think Marines might have that drive naturally to be great captains. Maybe it's something they're born with or maybe it's just their training, but my grandfather is a Marine, my SO is a Marine, and my sister ended up with a Marine as well. I don't know if it's coincidence or not.

They practice in quite a few states too - if your state isn't one of them, ask for a referral. Chances are good they'll know someone where you are. Hope that helps, good luck.

Ask what their track record is representing men and protecting their rights. Some firms specialize in representing men during messy divorce and custody cases. This is a firm I was trying to get on with for awhile - I would suggest browsing their website to get ideas of what questions to ask.

There's another post in the sidebar titled "If you find TRP to be a little too raw..." I would suggest reading that. And then the rest of the sidebar.

From the sidebar: Bad-mouthing TRP, or any RP sub will result in an immediate ban. Furthermore, any terms and insults stated for no reason other than to offend and demean another user will be grounds for banning as well. Finally, do not concern troll or tone police. You might be in the wrong place.

Without giving too much information, most of the trouble is family related - my mother was very controlling and abusive during my childhood, so I've got a lot of anger regarding that. Can you recommend any books on daughters with narcissistic mothers? Additionally, some of my family members were murdered and the ensuing grief basically caused half of my family to fall apart and become estranged. So there's some bitterness about that. Also, some shitty things were done to me by others against my …

All of his Marine Corps stuff is in our bedroom, but not even in a place where it's visible. I am, however, getting ready to do the kitchen in Americana theme with his agreement. We do have a pretty small house - it's a 2BR, 1BA (800 square feet) and the extra bedroom is our shared office, which is entirely decorated with various things from the both of us. It's the nostalgia room - we have a beer fridge, pennants from our favorite baseball teams (we're a divided house), some tin whiskey signs w…

Would you mind sharing what you did (or what he did) with all his Marine Corps stuff? My SO has a few Meritorious Masts and other awards and memorabilia that just sits on a sad shelf behind a door - I would really love to find a great way to display in non-obtrusive way. He does not want it to be the focal point of our living room, but I feel like it being banished to a shelf behind a door is not a good place for it to live.

I know he'll have something soon - he's very smart and capable and has great skills and references, I don't doubt for a second his ability to land a good job. The biggest problem has been my animosity towards his former employer - I knew the guy who fired him, it was a tight knit company and I'd socialized with the guys' wives. They just up and cut him with no warning after giving him a thank you bonus for all the extra things he had done because of some personality conflicts. I had a very hard …

I never intentionally "trained" any of them, they were just such betas that they filled the role naturally. When women complimented me on having such a well trained man, I always got uncomfortable like "I didn't make him that way, he just is." It was actually embarrassing, it made me feel like my partner was not manly enough and then I would get self-conscious.

These are my go-to for when I need to make something sweet - they're simple and they don't make the kitchen get too hot. Bourbon balls! 2 1/2 cups crushed nilla wafers 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar 1 cup chopped pecans 2 cups dark chocolate chips 3 tablespoons light corn syrup 1/3 cup bourbon Granulated sugar for rolling Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl (confectioner's sugar, pecans, nilla wafers). Currently, yes. My SO lost his job at the beginning of June and is still pursuing new employment. I am confident he will get an offer very soon, but it's difficult. He is the head of the house and the one who controls our finances - and he still maintains that control. I would be lying if I didn't feel incredibly weird about it. But, I keep my mouth shut because I know he's trying, and he's still doing a great job of managing our finances. We have a very affordable cost of living, so we are more…

I'm not really comfortable with that - I like my coworkers, but we don't really socialize much outside of work. Every now and then there will be a friendly trivia night (which is nice) but I feel like I can't be myself around them. I have been looking at the meetup.com groups and see a couple potential options there.

The issue is that I don't really know a lot of ladies other than my SO's family - I have had loose "plans" to go shooting with my SO's sister-in-law, but they have never really been made concrete. I don't think she really wants to go, I think she's more just trying to be polite.

There is a hiking group in my area on meetup.com - another one for 20's and 30's that might be a good one too. It has gotten more active since I last checked shortly after moving here. I think I'm going to give that a shot.

A D&D group would be right up my alley - I wish I could find girls to do that! I know my SO's sister and her wife would play, but he's not too keen on me hanging out with them due to his sister's shady past. That would make me happiest though, just a card game/board game group to chill with on a weekly basis. I'm not really actively religious and the meetup.com/craisglist areas here tend to be SUPER pervy, so that's a no-go. Most of the volunteer programs here are filled by people doing communit…

I'm considering returning to school soon, so that might be a good place to look - I have considered looking into martial arts as I was involved when I was a kid, it would be fun but it's expensive. We are currently down to one income at the moment until my SO is re-employed. My SO and I are both drinkers, but I don't find women that tend to only care about drinking to be good social partners - I want friends that I can enjoy a glass or two with wine with AND also sit and talk about current event…

Are you guys in a situation where your finances are overlapping, i.e. living together? If you are, just be honest and let him have control. Some jobs make more money than others - that's great that yours does, but y'all need to have a long term plan either way if you're sharing finances. If you're not sharing finances or anything, I'd suggest gently bringing up the topic and seeing what he says - if you see it being a long-lasting relationship, make plans. We just went from my SO being the bread…

I was raised Catholic, SO was raised Methodist - we were both very active in our churches growing up. Both of us are somewhat spiritual now (believe in God, pray sometimes, that kind of thing) but we don't attend church. SO and I both have some qualms with organized religion so it's not a part of our life. Most of my family is very Southern and very Catholic - the other half is very Southern and very crazy.

My SO was venting quite a bit before he lost his job - the company had taken a huge nosedive and become an awful place to work and he no longer "fit" with the way they wanted to run things. He's a very strong personality, so he was fighting back and it was stressing him out. Naturally, he had a lot to vent. And when he vents, no one is right but him - that's just a thing he does. I'm aware, and I just let myself be wrong, I let him correct me, I let him vent. He just needed to be right and neede…

This is a really awkward and drama-filled situation to be involved with, that's for sure - I would just echo what has already been said; stay close to your SO, be polite, and just try to avoid them in general. I would imagine that the bride has at least some inkling of what went down in the past and won't seat you near Liz and Dave, right? If not (and I don't know what kind of bride she is or how receptive she'd be to this) perhaps it would be worth it to delicately mention that it would be for …

First, I'm really sorry. This is awful. Secondly, I think you should really consider ending this relationship. This has clearly been a pattern; and my initial impression is that this is not something you're willing to work with. I know you don't want "leave him!" advice, but you have to ask yourself - do you want to deal with this later once you've had children? How would you react as a child if you found out this was going on in your parents' relationship? His 'somewhat low libido' is alarming …

I've been slowly working my way through it between work-related readings; seriously, it's great for this. I am trying to break my nagging habits and reading this book has helped a lot. I try to just listen and acknowledge his problems; he doesn't like to be offered solutions - he knows how to fix his own problems, he's a fixer by nature - so I just listen and try to offer what I can if he asks my opinion. It can be helpful to offer help when it's wanted, but sometimes all he needs is just a quiet ear to vent to.

I felt like I was just learning vocabulary, not grammar - I learned a lot of words, but nothing as far as how to properly structure a sentence. I know it has worked well for a few friends of mine (one friend is fluent in German now as a result, it's awesome) but it's just not for me. I learned Russian from family and a dictionary, but I was fairly young and I think more receptive to learning a new language.

I read and write in Russian - I have translated a lot of firearms-related materials for my dad. It's a handy skill to have. More and more I'm finding though that I should have put a lot more effort into my Spanish skills - I took 4 years of it in school and was nearly fluent, but disuse after school left my skills incredibly rusty and I have found that it's a VERY valuable skill to have anymore. I started learning French on Duolingo but I didn't find the format to work for me; I would definitely…

For skin: use witch hazel as an astringent. It's less harsh than alcohol or salicylic acid based astringents. I find that it dries my skin a lot less. I have combination skin (oily in places and super dry in others) so I also use a very light moisturizer with tea tree oil from the Body Shop. For hair: if you have curly hair and you have embraced your curls, don't use a hair brush. Use a wide tooth comb or pick when it's wet, and just use your fingers to straighten once it's dry. Also, cold rinse…

I just simply tell them it was all him. I don't want to take credit for anything he did, that's demeaning to both of us. I am personally incredibly proud of my SO and will sing his praises at any chance, but I will always give him credit because he's the one who does the work.

My best friend used to behave in a very similar way, and I did have a talk with her over drinks one day at my apartment. It ended with her crying, but changing her behavior. She's happily married now with a beautiful home, and went from ruining my favorite pan trying to make bacon to being an absolutely amazing cook. She's still got a lot of BP behaviors, but she's a lot happier. There's hope, she's just got to want to reach for it. Good luck.

How valuable is your friendship with this girl? I understand wanting to help her see the light and wanting her to be happy, but she's got to want to help herself. My only suggestion is maybe sitting down over a glass of wine at your house or hers and gently outlining her pattern; maybe it will work, maybe it won't. If she just wants to be a slut, she's going to continue being a slut.

No excuse. I just don't understand women who won't take care of themselves during pregnancy and just use it as a carte blanche to shovel whatever they want into their suck, you're setting yourself and your child up for failure - not even to mention the fact that you're disrespecting your husband by becoming a landwhale.

I pick different days of the week for different chores. Sometimes I alternate with certain things, but certain things stay certain days - for example, Saturday is grocery shopping day, Sunday is laundry day. Those will never change; the routine is comforting. Dusting - I LOVE the little Swiffer dusters. They are a miracle. I use them at home and in my office.
