How am I mocking anyone? I never said anything I just noticed how contentious the comments were. Attacking another woman for an observation about the comments isn’t it either SIS. So stop.

Yes! But I want to clarify- this was EARLY tinder. Back when it was good— so pre-2013/2014. Those were tinder’s glory days when you had actual quality men on it. By 2015 the trash had settled in and now? Well now it’s just a complete dumpster fire 🔥

Im going to pivot and say this. It seems (to me) that you feel very insecure in this relationship. And I would really advise you to explore that. Relationships with HVM allow you to feel secure and confident. That doesn’t seem to be happening with this relationship. I would explore why. Odds are it’s (potentially) subconsciously something from him. Trust your gut. You body is trying to tell you something.

I would also say to be cautiously aware of men who rush to marriage. My ex met his now fiancé not even 2 weeks after I left him (and before our divorce was even finalized). He was actively peddling to find someone, met her, moved in and proposed less than 9 months later. TBH I don’t even think she is aware that he was previously married. So I say that to say, vet vet vet. Yes it sounds nice to say “men know” but also so do narcissistic predators looking for supplies.

Also apply this mantra to your other relationships- like with friends. You cannot expect to be one way with friends and then suddenly FDS with men. FDS principles apply to all relationships, so align yourself accordingly. As OP said, practice makes perfect.

If you could get a good amount of spousal support due I would honestly think it worth it. My scrote ex was a hobosexual so I didn’t even get an attorney bc ….bums have nothing to give. 😂 BUT- my dad was just like your ex in terms of being the moneymaker. My mom got attorney and I know she is glad she did. Bc she went for it she’s retired and getting paid off his pension (spousal support).

This woman was married, and had a 3 year old son. Yet this sick scrote wouldn't take no for an answer and then k*lled himself when he was rejected. This r*pe and shaving+ blackening and parading was in retaliation for the scrote k*lling himself when she said no. Absolutely disgusting. The worst part for me was all the pickme's who paraded her around and participated in this. Just gross & reprehensible beyond words.

I personally feel that not only did he tell on himself, but he also revealed to you his plans (that he had already started to put into motion) with YOU. Notice what you said- you are a strong confident opinionated women, and he had your crying, crawling and begging with him. That behavior doesn’t happen overnight. He has slowly and quietly planted seeds of insecurity into you to get you to react this way. Please take a look at where these seeds were planted and how he was able to do this. Men li…

Yep. Which is why i would also argue that while your advice is great for dating, as you said- it can apply to any and all situations. Breaking that mindset is essential but as you said- sometimes we are so conditioned we don’t see it. The best quote I’ve ever heard (and that I feel your post highlights) is that when you have rose colored glasses on red flags just look like flags 🚩

I had a marriage therapist that I was seeing with my ex. We started off together, but it became clear to them that joint sessions were not beneficial. So we did individual sessions with the therapist. Then the individual sessions turned into two days a week for him- one day for me. All through my individual sessions with the therapist I told this therapist of the things he was doing (which of course escalated once we started therapy). It was so bad that I was actively texting the therapist at al…

My ex did this. He would break my stuff all the time "accidentally". My favorite wine glasses all mysteriously were broken while he cleaned them. Everything just broke as he was trying to help. Except for when he got angry-- then he would break things on purpose such as my birthday gift (on my birthday) and a PS4 I had bought for him (which he threw at me in a fit of rage when I pointed out ALL the various things I did for him (business investments, rent, food, etc etc) for him despite his words…

"We often marry our issues" My therapist told this to me during our individual couples counseling session and it completely opened my eyes to what/who my ex was. I knew my dad was a narc, but hearing that opened the possibility to my ex being one too. Shook my entire system but it fortunately made all the shingles on my eyes to fall off and I left him VERY soon after.

Tell them that you have had a family emergency come up that is now resulting in you having to break the lease. Leave it at that. Don’t tell them about him cheating or anything bc you don’t know if an LVM is the leasing manager and will tell him. Just tell them your circumstances have changed, that he will still be there and what next steps you need to do to break your part of the lease.

I am a Christian. I love God. I feel that a lot of “religion” has been impacted by some dangerous interpretations of the Bible. From my reading and experience God is love. Not only is he love, but he is extremely organized. The true definition of order. When I look out at all he has created I see how he has created and built upon things to make a myriad of different plants and animals. This is why I believe we have so many animals and plants that are similar yet different. It was as if he starte…

Your story was a whirlwind, but what I find most interesting was that it wasn't very unique at all. AKA_- scrotes play from the same playbook. I could've totally taken your short scrote and traded him for my bum scrote and we would've still had the same story. LOL. These men are ridiculous.

I agree it is due to self esteem issues and the gaslighting. It's unique for me bc i was with a NVM narc as well-- and divorced him last year. So I know how they (narcs) move and operate and the cycle of abuse-- which makes it even more infuriating to see it all play out. I dont plan to not be friends with her-- bc isolation is a narcs goal-- but I will need to mentally check out in a way bc the circus train is exhausting.

I agree. I just think that we say that mantra and that many FDers might be thinking things are okay since they don’t have to chase their men to do things. They don’t have low effort so they think things are fine. I just wanted to point out that at all times we should be listening to ourselves and our bodies/emotions over the actions of men. So many times these type of people stay “good” until they feel they have you locked down (I.e: marriage, a baby, etc). If we are vetting actions, by the time…

Thanks. I’ve been parroting back to my friend inconsistencies and then showing the holes in his defense. For instance, his big excuse (and the one that she gives him) is that he just doesn’t know HOW to be a father — but I pointed out to her that for this other two hobbies he started of which he knew nothing prior about, he puts not only effort into but also spends countless hours researching to make sure he does it right. The gross assumption is that women are unmarried having casual sex and having abortions as a result of that lifestyle. I had a friend who is a Christian. She “saved herself for marriage”. Married a man. He raped her. He got her pregnant twice (intentionally— first time he ejaculated in her, second time he poked holes in the condom). She had an abortion both times and left him. She was not irresponsible. She was not “loose”. She was not “avoiding the consequences of her actions”. She was married …

No it’s not as uncomfortable as a tampon. First time you insert it can feel a little strange and since I have cramps first day I took an aspirin -but unlike a tampon which swells as it absorbs it doesn’t happen with that so it feels much more comfortable. I legit forget it’s there. Plus there isn’t a constant string hanging out which is so nice. I don’t know exactly how much the cups hold but I usually change it about every 8 hours. 😂 oh wow this post. Very timely for my life right now. I’m currently practicing “matching energy”. Because honestly so many ppl want you to do the heavy lifting in relationships and as someone who usually is the one lifting i am DONE. I instead match energy. They want to hang o it? Cool. Then plan it. Show me that you want to spend time with me. 99.99999% they won’t because they want to say it but then have you make it happen. As OP said- treat your friendship like the most exclusive club in the…

I agree. There is no point in confronting them at all. They really dont care. What I did was I just changed the locks, told him to sign the divorce papers, told him what day he could get his stuff (and what time) and that was it. No other communication. No other explanations. He kept begging me to talk with him but I just ignored any and all communication. There's no point. And my ex didn't even cheat on me- I just realized he was a sh*t person and was done. Nothing to explain after realizing th…

Yes. So for myself, I first had to determine where I lacked. What was hurt/starved inside of me that needed to be repaired. For me this went back to my childhood and I had to look and discover the areas where I wasn't emotionally loved/fed as a child. Those childhood wounds were the base from which I then started to rebuild. So for me, I had a father who while he was physically present, he was emotionally unavailable. He focused on work and valued work more than he valued his family (and in turn…

Get to the root of your high sex drive. Like another commented, I too thought I had a high drive, in reality it was just me seeking emotional intimacy through that which I knew: sex. Once you start feeding yourself the emotional intimacy you so crave you might notice the drive disappearing. Ultimately for me I had to learn, REALLY learn how love myself and care for myself in a truly intimate and complete way. Once I learned that everything changed.

I completely agree- which why for us as women, I do agree with OP that it is best to not date down. Honestly I think overall women are more self aware and so then that shrinks the pool even MORE for a self aware man who climbed the socioeconomic ladder and didn’t bring his poverty mindset (and the family poverty mindset) along with him. I mean, it SOUNDS nice, and I am sure there is 1-12 men out there who have done it 😂 but realistically…it’s slim to none. And I’m sorry about your families react…

I would argue it can be both. Many ppl learn behaviors from their upbringing and surroundings. Men, in particular REALLY LEAN HEAVILY on their upbringing— this is why you find rich asshats and poor asshats. Yes it’s values but when dating down many of those values men have are so ingrained that it would be hard to separate the two. A man who grew up impoverished would literally have to disown and condemn their way of growing up, decide they don’t want to do that and then make a choice to to bett…

A HVW is one who is kind to herself and then kind to others. That’s it. That can be putting away dishes or ordering Wingstop and falling asleep on the couch. That can be working out OR binging on candy once a month. The basis is that they are kind to themselves in all areas and THEN kind to others.

I did it and I would never do it again. I dated down and honestly it was just me exposing him to so many things. First international trip, restaurants, clubs, scenes, etc. Always me pulling him up. Plus I was putting myself and my class (status and money) at risk by marrying him. Thankfully he was stupid (and still broke) when I divorced him so he didn’t get anything…but I could’ve lost a lot. Don’t be with anyone who has less to lose than you.

That shame you feel? Honestly that is the hardest part. Push through. Tell your mom. Tell people. LIFT that shame up from you. Be authentically and unapologetically you in your reality. Shame is just an illusion- living underneath it will be far more detrimental than facing it. As someone who left their husband last year once you conquer that “big scary shame” that you feel will consume you you will be infinitely more powerful than you have ever been before. Trust me.

No girl. The point is to STOP looking and start living your life. Stop keeping an eye out. FDS tells us that the looking, the keeping the eye out, all of that is the pickme behavior that we are trying to unlearn.

Honestly the pure fact is that yes, while there may be a 1% chance of meeting a HVM on the app— how much time are you going to spend looking for that 1%? Read that again. YOU ARE SPENDING TIME LOOKING FOR THAT 1%! Which is (as OP said) the literal definition of a pickme. Delete the apps. Put the phone down. Go outside. Live your best life.

I agree, it’s a huge red flag. One of my old friends married a man 13 years her senior. She was 24 and he was late 30’s....with two ex wives and 4 children. On public transportation I’m never really alone. There are always security cameras, operators and tons of people on the train or bus with me. And not just men but tons of women (young and old). Driving a car I am literally alone. If the car breaks down, I’m alone. If I got to park, I’m alone- be that a parking garage or a parking lot. If I go out and then go back to my car- I’m alone. Appeared to be my type by profession and hobbies but came to find out that was all an illusion- that disappeared 1 year into the relationship. After that I really only want someone im physically attracted to. Off the bat. I don’t want to warm up to physical attraction because again- I’ve done that and it didn’t work out well.

I love this! My one potential edit- you say 50/50 split in emotional labor— what does this mean? I say it could be a place for concern because often when you think you’re doing 50/50 in reality it’s like 90/10. People telling you they’re doing 50% but it’s really not. Instead I would seek someone who gives 100% in emotional labor (again- need clarification on what exactly that is) and then you just match that energy as you see fit. Personally when it comes to relationships I want autonomy. Where…

That’s interesting you say that. My ex narc wasn’t my type and that was a train wreck. I think the challenge is that when you actively aren’t going for your “type” or what you are physically attracted to you are already in a sense settling— which I think can lead to a slippery slope. That’s just my experience

I agree. Personally I think when this happens- when a woman finds what she thinks to be a HVM but he’s not her type then she can very well turn into a pickmiesha.

1) I'm so sorry for your dad. My father passed away a few years ago and the exact same thing happened with me with my "friends". I ended up losing 97% of my friends, and the other 3% that were left I lost after I left my LVM ex husband. 2) I love your mantra-- I'll be adding that to my 2021 mantras as well!

Omg are we twins? My ex didn’t have issues with porn (that I know of but again- who knows), but I much like you got married in 2018 and filed for divorce in 2020. We were also friends before we got married and that was the hardest part as well but I completely came to your same conclusion: a friend wouldn’t be doing that if they were worth it. I’m so glad to hear you’re free.

Thank you for sharing. And I want to add— your final “straw that broke the camels back” is NOT small. Don’t minimize it or feel like you have to justify it with other bigger reasons/examples. The reason mattered to YOU and that is all that matters.

Lose You to Love Me-- By Selena Gomez. A great song for those who have been in relationships with abusive (or narcissistic) men and how they need to leave them to get healthy and love themselves.

Oooooh, I would have to disagree with this one. Experience is required to learn. Especially when it comes to love and relationships. You can read all you want, discuss it all you want- but until you go through it you'll never learn. The worst thing I have seen are women in their 30's with no dating or relationship experience. They are like literal prey on the market and are playing this dating game with an empty playbook. Things that they might have noticed as red flags due to dating in their …

I was so disappointed by this show. I only saw episode 1 but that was all I could stomach. It is toxic as hell from all sides. The diversity-- check. The misogyny- check. The pickmiesha culture- check. I saw some of the sex scenes in other episodes just to see what ppl were talking about- if anything it again reinforced the stereotype of needing to please the man. Every scene with Daphne and Simon were him jackrabbiting here. There was no intimacy, no passion. I thought to myself "damn! girl mus…

I love this sub, but I will say that I would like to see more content focused on HV woman, HVM traits, leveling up strategies, advice on getting out of toxic situation and etc. Lately I've seen a lot of content around LVMs and Pickmieshas, which is okay, but I don't want it to dominate this sub and I dont want the bulk of the content to be around that. I want more sharing and stories of women who have been where I am at and who are thriving and their stories of success.

Two other books I would recommend: psychopath free by Jackson Mackenzie and then Whole again- again by the same author. Psychopath free addresses the narc, who they are, the relationship, etc. Helps a lot for the situation. Whole again focuses on you and the core wounds that lead you to be with someone like that. Reading them (first psychopath free and then whole again) helped me immensely.

Yes! If cycling works better then do that- and I don’t know where you live but if it’s cold just bundle up, put on a playlist you have made for yourself and then cycle away. Start short and then work your way up from there. I guarantee you that even if you do a 10-15 minute ride in the cold you will feel immensely proud of yourself for getting out there and doing it. That daily pride that you will be pouring into yourself will help your confidence grow. Then once you start to see the physical re…

If you are up to it, I would suggest you take up running. Start slow, start with short runs but commit to doing it 3-4 times a week. The slowly work up your distance and time. I have been exactly where you are, I gained 30 lbs with my narc ex husband and felt terrible. Earlier this year I finally got frustrated with it (and his excuses for lack of sex) and I took up running. I started slow (truth be told I HATED running) but I actually found it helped me if anything have a thing just for ME. Tho…

My friend is married and expecting with her LVM. It's been a fine line of me being super excited for her while also secretly being sad that she is now going to be stuck with this man for a very long time. I firmly believe he is a covert narc. Heck-- she even said she thought he was too many years ago, however once he realized he was being discovered he lovebombed her, rushed an engagement, wedding, and now a baby. I am only thankful he hasn't felt too threatened by our friendship and tried to ge…

HA! Oh wooow. I don't know if mine will come back, I did complete NC when I filed for divorce and I think that really shook him. BUT - it has only been a month since our divorce was finalized so you never know. I'm thinking a hoover attempt around the holidays if he hasnt found his new supply yet. Ironically he moved to NYC after the city had shut down. He was so insecure that the pandemic gave him the boost of confidence he needed. He saw this as an opportunity to "live there cheaply" and "take…

OOF! I am telling you I think we dated the same person (well, I married him but ugh..still). My ex husband was the same. I never worried he would cheat on me- which is why I was so shocked when I discovered he was a narc because they always say "Narcissists cheat" but mine prided himself on being such a GOOD GUY that he was SO against cheating. He felt safe. You're right- because he was so humble, so "Good" i never felt that he would hurt me or leave. I thought he was safe. We started out as fri…

Girl same same SAME. I didnt even realize that I had been being abused to early in the relationship until I started to look at my behavior of screaming and throwing things. I am not that person at all- but the gaslighting and emotional manipulation he would pull just pushed me over the edge! For the first three years of the relationship he mindf'd me to think that it was ME who had the issues! Tuh! Come to find out it was him all along. 5 years total of this crap (3 dating and 2 married). They a…

OMG...you literally are describing my ex husband. The public fights (one in NYC too!) the screaming matches, the Jekyll and Hyde moments, the "I'm a good Guy". Oh my goodness if I had a dollar for everytime he would tell me that. Near the end I told him that if he was so good then why was I feeling so crappy? I just told him that he says it but his actions dont show it at ALL.

OMG this post was spot on for my ex husband. To a T. But I suspect he was a covert insecure narc as he would ALWAYS say how confident he was. Can you write a follow-up on that one?

I think she had a family and she wanted to keep that family together. I can see where she came from, and I respect her doing what she felt at the time was right. I also respect her growing and realizing that despite her best efforts it wont get better and now filing for divorce.

I honestly blame my parents - specifically my father (narcissist) and my grandmother (narcissist). They just were so toxic and I was a child. I learned and was modeled incorrect things and was forced to become someone to survive. I give myself grace (and praise!) for surviving the both of them and now that I have realized what they poured into me I am extracting it and becoming who I have always been. Who I was supposed to be. Yes I married the wrong man because I was broken- but guess what? I r…

YES! I agree with this 100%. As someone who is recently divorced I agree with every word- especially the communication part. I tried so hard to fix it but once I realized it was him - I left. Filed for divorce and was divorced less than two months later. I wasn’t playing any games- I had been played enough. Now I know and will implement this quote. 🗣 no skating here!!

Happens all the time- especially between white women and black women. I don’t want to bring race into it, but I have to be honest- as a black woman the largest threat to my existence is white women. Yes misogyny is a problem but every road block I have had, every setback, Every threat, every vile word, action and created problem in both my professional and personal life has been at the hands of a white woman. Consistently. It has often reaffirmed to me that for some being a woman means you only …

This is interesting to hear. I’m recently divorced but sex was a huge issue (covert narc), we were together for 5 years total, 2 married and the sex was great UNTIL we got married! Then it switched and was terrible. Now that I’m single again I’m really concerned on what to do regarding sex. Sex is important to me and I feel he really took all the fun out of it. It became something I had to beg for and a headache.

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I just got divorced and I was telling my friend that people need to stop saying “marriage is hard work” because it does nothing but portray a wrong perception and allow for abuse to continue longer than it should because people think “ well yeah! This is the hard work I was warned about” no no NO. The list of what is considered “work” is exactly all it should be and that’s IT! I was driving myself crazy wondering why things were so hard- it was all HIM! Covert narc. I know th…

Thank you for this post! My ex husband’s penis did not cut it for me- that was actually a part of the reason I divorced him. The sex just wasn’t good. I foolishly believed the “all dicks matter” rhetoric but for me that is not the case. I never got an orgasm from PIV with him. His penis wasn’t big enough. I like long penises- 8+ inches because I have a deep cervix and short dicks simply won’t hit my spot. Long and wide. I agree I like plump balls. I actually prefer uncircumcised as well. It’s ni…

Leading up to it I’m getting nervous and sad because I am losing what I thought was my best friend. But he treated me exactly as yours did- even down to not being able to keep a job.
