Now, I understand its uses, and know why its unpopular but.... Not all women are like that. I know this is my first post but I've been stalking this sub for a awhile now and decided that my first post is of something that's been grating me a bit. Its just an idea. I've came across numerous posts where I disagreed with a claim but realized that my argument distilled down to NAFALT but still felt it had relevance. People can use it to just derail topics and as get out of free jail cards for women, but other times not so much.

Maybe instead of dismissing this claim outright, treat for the banal argument its is that more often than not sidetracks the issue at hand. That if a post is made that makes broad claims of women should provide the post-fix of NAFALT because we can't ignore ones individuality and suggest that they represent the majority just because they share genetic markers and that one is not ignorant of it but want to express an idea that may be difficult to articulate and don't want to suggest that you view and treat all the same and um blah blah blah blah. Hopefully you get the point.

Now this isn't some claim of wish wash feminism or hair brained egalitarianism but of individualism. If someone one feels that a post or claim ignores individuality (specifically that of a women's) and NAFALT is used as counter point dismissively responding isn't always the best course of action. Instead take a step back, look at whether NAFALT hasn't been taken into consideration and its validity to the case in point and respond in suit. If its bull shit treat it as derivative as it is. If its not than explain why for the point in contention that NAFALT isn't relevant, or why maybe it is (not that the discussion shouldn't happen) and say of course but doesn't relate to the topic at hand. Now if for some crazy reason it actually does raise a disputation than treat it properly (that said I only came across one post that really set this up for me, it was one of the first posts I can across and can't recall it exactly and isn't in the mood to find it exactly.) For me it just seems the acknowledgment of it isn't there and I'd rather it be in the open.
