I consider myself a Egalitarian. I respect what feminism has fought for. I believe gender roles are an extremely damaging social construct that hurt both men and women.

However, let me digress a little bit:

  • The first issue I want to talk about is abortion. I am Pro-Choice. I have even marched at Pro-Choice rallies in my time. I am strongly of the belief that no woman should be forced to go through pregnancy and become a Mother against her will. I respect that feminists fight for women's reproductive rights, and that we make sure women never become slaves to that of a zygote inside them.

HOWEVER, just like I strongly believe no woman should be forced to go through pregnancy and become a Mother against her will, I strongly believe no man should be forced to go through child support and become a Father against his will. So many men are tricked into becoming Fathers("Don't worry, I'm on the pill"), and it is simply not fair, and men should be able to opt-out of Fatherhood.

  • The next issue is "gender roles". I believe Gender Roles are the most damaging social construct in world history. However, what gender roles have the feminists fought against? Sure, the "Keepers Of The Home" baloney certainly isn't for every woman, or even most women, and I think it's great that now we have more career women than ever, and women are proving themselves as effective as men in the workplace.

HOWEVER, the male gender role is still heavily enforced in society. Men are still expected to be Emotionless Hard-Working Robots. A man crying is still seen as a sign of weakness, and the average person if they saw a man crying, would either laugh, think to themselves "Pathetic" or tell them to "Man Up". I still remember as an Australian, an Australian Rules Footballer player named Nick Riewoldt crying heavily after a Grand Final loss, and it was considered "Hilarious" to the media, and the general consensus was "He's a pussy". Men and women, believe it or not, experience the same feelings and mood-swings, and I strongly believe one of the main reasons for the large male suicide rate is this "Man Up" mentality. Men suffer through depression for varieties of reasons, and all they hear is "Man Up", "Be A Man", "It's In Your Head". What does that shit even mean? Thankfully, here in Australia, there has recently been a large advertising campaign called "Man Therapy" talking about helping men deal with depression, and this gives me some hope.

  • Another positive thing feminism did was fight in Ireland to close down the "Magdalene Asylums". Viciously misogynistic Catholic-Church owned buildings that housed women that were deemed "morally bankrupt" by their families. This typically meant Single Mothers. They then had their children taken away from them and were forced into these Asylums potentially for the rest of their lives. This happened until believe it or not, 1996. I can't even read the history of them without tearing up and feeling disgust. I applaud the great progress that has been made and continues to grow in Ireland, largely thanks to feminism.

HOWEVER, during these times in Ireland, young homosexual men were forced into mental hospitals and deemed "perverted and dangerous", and there was absolutely no Uprising over that. There was no major pressure or lobbying to stop this vicious and cruel treatment of innocent young men. Feminists, so rightly against the cruelty of the Catholic Church, sadly seem to only care when it was cruelty against women and not against men.

These are just some things that I needed to get off my chest. Feminism has so many positives, the MRM has so many positives. And I know that one day, all these positives will come together, and we will truly live in an Egalitarian world. It won't be tommorow. It won't be next year. But as long as there is one good feminist, and one good MRA, I will always have hope.

Thanks for reading.
