Technically speaking, rights are yours no matter what your beliefs. Many members of the MRM seem to like chivalry.

I think that chivalry is based on concepts of male disposability and female insufficiency, and would personally just rather a world in which people were nice to people who needed and deserved it, but that's my own philosophy. Chivalry is certainly sexist, irrespective of whether or not it is "benevolent".

Chivalry comes from the French word Chevalier (horseman.) From which we also get the word cavalier. Personally, I hold doors open for women - such a small thing makes them so happy and costs me nothing - but I have a completely cavalier attitude to anyone who thinks a woman who hits me is not going to get hit back because of her gender.

I think there's a lot of subtly to this but traditionalist vs egalitarian is probably a useful distinction.

Traditionalists want chivalry because it's the obligation that goes along with power.

Egalitarians don't want it because it gives men more obligation than women which is contrary to egalitarians wanting equal power and responsibility between the sexes.

MRAs can be either. So can WRAs, actually, because rights are others' obligations to you, like being obligated to not kill you outside of self defense.
