My old hometown had a plan to keep all the sex offenders away from the children and with their POs during Halloween Trick-or-Treating. It looks like a great idea until I read 'only men were required to sit in.'

This would have been a bad idea even if it was gender blind. Sex offender can mean almost anything. Regardless the sentences for actual child abuse and rape in the USA are high. At some point we need to accept if we let people out of jail we should let them try to live a normal life. Permanently disenfranchising even real sex offenders doesn't make anyone safer. If you constantly humiliate a person they are just going to be more likely to stop trying to fit back in to society and just offend again.

Amazed they actually bothered to even arrest the female sex offenders to bring them to trial. I suppose they didn't for 95% of them.

Abridging people's freedom like this is illegal. If these people are not on probation... I don't see how this can work, legally speaking.

Ector County Adult Probation Officer, Laura Hall, said, "We do currently have three female sex offenders that we will let stay home and we'll go check on them."

While I get the point here and even the principle of it, it seems because they have so few female sex offenders that they see no reason to call them in. Not saying its right, but I can see why they didn't.

Interesting that when they total the number of offenders, they calculated both counties, but when they total the number of female offenders, they only mention one county. I wonder how many are in the second county?
