Because 18 is an absurd age for the age of consent anywhere. 16 is a perfectly valid age of consent. Statutory rape laws are used to vilify 19 year old "rapists" for their interactions with 17 year old girls.

We don't have to accept their framework that teenagers are incapable of consenting to sexual activity. 12 year olds? obviously they can't consent. 16? Give me a break. We teach sex ed at 10, 12, 14, and 15 and then say they are incapable of making decisions until they turn 18.

Worst part? I kinda agree with that brownshirt, we should be up in arms about this. Just because he was 16 doesn't mean it makes it ok. He was served alcohol. He was taken advantage of.

If the genders were reversed, there would obviously be a loud and widespread clamouring to call this statutory rape, and in that sense, if its rape for one gender it should be rape for the other gender.

On the other hand though, it would be a lot better for society if common sense rather than technical definitions for rape were used. One common sense definition, is "If there is no victim, there is no rape."

Even upon reflecting in adulthood on the situation if the "victim" does not consider it rape, then no one else should.

Either way I hardly consider this rape, but I do think there should be come kind of punishment regardless, but not years in prison.

We aren't up in arms because we realize the rape laws are messed up to begin with. Of course feminists want us to be hard on older woman raping young boys. It just lets them be even harder on men.

If this actually happened, treat her the same as any other rapists. But this is AskReddit, they lie about shit all the time there. Can anyone confirm this? I hate being that guy but my akbar senses are tingling. Especially with the account being a 2 days old alt. But maybe I just read too many r/worseof threads.

It's tough to make the comparison. I myself lost my virginity at age 14, to a woman who was somewhere in her 30's, and I felt like the happiest kid in the entire world.

Men and women view sexuality differently. If we pretend this isn't the case, we're essentially becoming like SRS.

when me and my husband were getting a divorse i was staying with the guy i was sleeping with behind his back. he was getting stressed out taking care of me bc i didn't have a car or a job and my saved money was running low. i needed to pay my lawyer more money and i was stressing out bc i was short a few hundred. so i slept with a guy for money. i felt dirty and low about it but i'd do anything to keep my kid and to keep her i needed a lawyer. i was pariniod that i caught something and if i did i knew i'd get kicked out so i lied to him and said i was raped. i knew this way i could get checked out without having to end up with me and my kid homeless.
