I was on another first date with a girl off tinder. She texted me last minute to ask if we can meet at her sister's and all watch TV together instead of getting drinks. I feel that I did the right thing here by declining (and personally I think it's a really weird request for a first date). She agrees but not without a few basic shit tests.
She arrived late - seriously late (40 mins). Normally I leave if they don't show up after 15 minutes, but she kept baiting me by sending me texts such as "just 5 mins away". First fuck up, I should have left.
Eventually she shows up, and at this point I'm pretty angry but I choose to hide it. She doesn't apologise. In the bar I say "you can buy first because you were late". She looks at me like I just shat on her doorstep, and outright refuses. I initially hold frame, repeating a few times that she will buy because she was late. She states that I should "do the gentlemanly thing" and buy first.
I eventually break frame and buy first - again, perhaps I should have walked out here. Nevertheless, I choose to continue the date. I tease her a lot and quickly the negative atmosphere disintegrates and she's laughing a lot and talking about her dumb passions including her £1,700 Gucci handbag. Although, I feel that it's hard for her to respect me at this point because she broke my frame. Despite breaking frame I maintained a cocky/confident manner throughout.
After a while we leave and I initiate kino by holding her hand, linking arms and putting my arm around her waist. She goes on about how it'd be "gentlemanly" for me to go back to hers and watch TV with her sister rather than going to the second venue. I try and be smooth by saying "kissing you sounds more gentlemanly" and going in for the kiss. She rejects and laughs in my face, saying I should go home if I don't want to watch TV with her sister.
She walks me to the train. I look into her eyes, and go in for the kiss again. She laughs in my face again, before hesitating and then making out with me intensely. She apologises that she was late, and I then got on the train and left.
I feel that this girl was just a bit of a bitch, but I also could have handled things better:
-
Should I have accepted her invitation to watch TV with her and her sister?
-
How should I have handled her refusing to buy the first round?
-
Overall, how could I have done better here?
