It's hard to make any progress with some people who still fervently believe that no woman would lie about rape. Or, at the very least, such a small fraction would lie about it that it isn't worth addressing. Therefore, in the minds of policy-makers like this, it should be harder for men to prove their innocence since, statistically speaking, the man is more likely guilty than the woman is lying.

However, when it comes to rape charge and what is really at stake for the man, there needs to be a higher standard held. As the article points out, a woman has nothing to really lose (except the trauma of her alleged rapist going free), whereas the man has everything.

There is little use debating policy makers like this, but rather rousing support and awareness to get them removed. That is the only solution to this problem in the legal system. These people cannot be convinced, they have their own biased and sexist agenda (personally or monetarily motivated) and the only progress to be made forward is by removing them from their position of power through continued activism.

The feminist "scholar" Nancy Hogshead-Makar dishonestly presents information and dishonestly interprets information. As an example of the lack of integrity of the author, compare the following false statement with the facts as determined by the largest national survey of sexual assault (the NISVS) which the same dishonest author uses to justify the "dear colleague" letter:

"Men commit the vast majority of acts of sexual harassment and violence on campuses, and they should not have a systemic advantage that makes it easier for them to do so and avoid accountability."

The lying feminist author fails to honestly report the remarkable findings shown in table 2.1 of the same NISVS survey:

The same number of women rape men every year (1.27 million) as men rape women every year (1.27 million).

Of course, the feminists who wrote the NISVS survey worked hard to hide this number, by re-defining female rape of males as "forced penetration without consent", rather than rape.

How long before this standard is used to send a defendant to prison? How long before the burden of proof is flipped on the accused? (Besides Washington State, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Military of course)

If I were to accuse a woman of stealing my car, and was unable to furnish any proof whatsoever that my car was even stolen, let alone by her, I do imagine you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who thinks that I should be able to get her arrested. To most people, I don't think it would matter that I was telling the truth. My words alone wouldn't be good enough.

But when we're talking about rape, man-on-woman rape, at least, all of sudden, people in general seem to lose their ability to think rationally about the situation. They just operate off of emotion. A woman accuses me of rape, she needs to be believed, and anyone who doesn't do so is a monster. A misogynist.

This, I do believe very firmly, is the root of the problem, the biggest stumbling block. Shit, there are people who would consider me a misogynist for so much as taking the stance that I have, for merely making this post. And there are even people who would call me a misogynist for suggesting that making this post might earn me such a label.

Simply put, when the word "rape" comes into play, we who wish to approach it with a clear head cannot win. We're not allowed to be critical of any rape law or policy which makes it easier to attain a rape conviction. We're not allowed to suggest that an increasing number of rape convictions every year isn't necessarily tantamount to putting a shitload of bonafide rapists away. We're not allowed to suggest that implicitly believing women who claim rape might not be a good idea. We're not allowed to suggest that false rape accusations are even a problem. We're not allowed to suggest the idea that maybe, just maybe, rape on college campuses isn't such a tremendous problem that it warrants potentially ruining the lives of possibly completely innocent young male students in the name of combating it.

We're not allowed to debate the subject anymore. A man behind bars for rape is to always be labeled a victory. A person's stance is to always be in favor of making it easier for women to get men locked up for rape. It's non-negotiable.

I hold no hope for this ever changing. I fully expect the people who think women never lie about rape, or anything for that matter, to get their way until the end of time. I fully expect the adults with children mentalities to be allowed to run this joint into the ground.
