This is pretty mild by UK standards.

There was a programme on TV last night following a "gender consultant" - yes, there is such a thing - who goes to major UK companies and does a "gender audit", which consists entirely of looking at every area of the company and assessing how many women there are.

The guys she interviewed, mostly section managers, were so intimidated by her open bullying tactics that none of them thought to simply tell the truth - "We hire based on ability, not gender".

It was grotesque.

While she doesn't recognise herself as having less confidence than the men around her ("I've never been afraid to express my opinions") nor that children are a problem ("We live in an era of flexible working, give and take"), Carnwath does believe it's difficult for women to take that first major step of getting onto the non-executive board itself.

It's difficult for everyone.

Maybe they meant to write "more difficult"?

We have 100% proof that any field where women are put in positions of power in making decision that field stagnates, and as those fields become overly representative of women those fields regress.

Fifty years ago teaching was run by men and colleges in particular where virtually all men teaching. Hardly a coincidence that grade schools are a joke of epic proportions and colleges are equally ridiculous.

Psychology is another field that was an all mens club fifty years ago. Everything is revesed today, what was once considered right and common sense is now considered not only wrong, but most probably hate speech as well. Can anyone even jokingly say thay we as a society are more psycologically sound and centered than we were fifty years ago?

Equality before the law, as in everyone having the right to life, freedom and property does in no way mean equality in ability between the genders. Only an indoctrinated fool would believe men and women are equal in ability.
