If it were me, I would welcome and impartial investigator with open arms. It seems ludicrous to me that an inquisition panel of faculty members would be capable of a fair assessment of the situation, and not have an agenda to push. Even if that agenda is "Protect the university/my gravy-train at all costs" and not "Punish those wicked wicked men I talk about in Gender Studies class", they still stand to gain from one position, and potentially lose from another. Better say he's guilty, "just in case".
