This sort of shit is abominable, just really. The sheer abortion of justice when anyone is presumed guilty until proven innocent. That's not due process, and it's not moral.

Wait, she really hasn't been charged yet? Wasn't there a recording of her admitting to it? And didn't she admit to a desire to keep monies she knowingly defrauded from a school system? I thought it was a foregone conclusion that this would be swiftly and expeditiously brought to justice. What is the hold up?

I hate to say it, but plea bargains are the real and pervasive problem here. The number of women who lie about rape is nothing to the number of people who give up their right to court because of the extra penalty if they lose (which is what it really is, in this case, he would have been given no less than 35 extra years in prison for the simple fact he tried to make use of his right to trial).

We need to end plea bargains and lower maximum sentences until they match what would have been given by plea bargains. Women who lie about rape are like rocks being thrown at you. Dangerous? Yes. But still nothing compared to the asteroid hurtling at you that is this whole messed up system of plea bargains.

I hate the be the turn in the punch bowl on this one... but I do disagree. There are countless people sitting in prison as we speak for similar crimes they didn't commit. Prosecuting a person who comes forward after a false accusation would make it so no one else came forward again. Giving people immunity for coming forward after a false accusation would actually help rescue innocent people from prison. Strange as it seems, it appears we need to choose to be on the side of logic or the side of reality.
