The early upvotes makes me think that you guys are reading something different than I am.

First, the article and especially OP's title are both arguing from the general - that spouses of pedophiles have selfish reasons for not acting on their suspicions or knowledge of the crime - to the specific, namely Sandusky's wife. I don't care how much experience this psychologist has for his hunch; criminal investigations only start once real evidence shows up. Right?

Secondly, the article is aimed only at wives as if it was only men who are pedophiles, and never once breaks from this model.

And lastly, while it is certainly important to emphasize the culpability of spouses and other family members to protect children over their own embarrassment and shame, the author seems to feel that people close to such criminals always have suspicious activity to alert them. This is simply not true.

Of course she is guilty too. There is no crime out there that women can't and shouldn't be blamed for, particularly with relation to her husband's sex crimes.
