What that guy did sure isnt moral.

But if he gets sentenced, the law will be even more fucked up. They withdrew consent long after the act. That should not be possible.

Maybe its time to go to my lawyer and drafting that "I give consent in full possession of my mental capabilities, without any form of pressure on me"-paper I've been thinking about.

What's more the definition of "consent" appears to not have to have force or even threats. If you persuade a woman to get naked and then she decides you did so under some sort of false pretenses, then you are guilty of, "causing women to engage in sexual activity without consent"?

Well it sounds like he did get involved (it said he occasionally joined in). But I do find it odd that they are finding him guilty of having sex without consent. Yes he's immoral and I'd send him away on fraud related charges alone.

But did he have sex with them without consent?

Maybe. From what I can tell it sounds like they are saying he brainwashed them into having sex with him. Now I can see some argument for taking advantage of someone that is in a vulnerable state but I usually only see that in cases dealing with disabled people or children.

I don't know if that fits here.

I think the legal argument the prosecution is going with is that the women were not of sound mind at the time and thus were not able to consent.

Sorry, the article reads like a parody to me. Especially this one line:

One woman told the trial she was conned into acting like a "porn star" in the belief that it would boost her own spiritual powers.

How do you get from "I want to contact my dead relatives" to "If I act like a porn star, it'll boost my 'spiritual powers.'"

How do you get there without questioning whether the individual trying to get you there might be either crazy or lying to you?

I understand that Lang's behavior was definitely unprofessional, but a sex crime? Nope.
