From the perspective of a really old-school "girl gamer" (book-and-dice games and when I was younger and more fit, some LARPing) who chose to dish right the fuck back when other gamers got belligerent, today's "girl-gamer" complaints about sexism in gaming look nothing but weak and whiny. Female nerds and geeks in the 70s and 80s who wanted to play with the boys didn't earn our place in gaming by whining about any level of nonacceptance with cries of sexism and misogyny. We muscled our way in by being as assertive and tough as the guys. Sitting around bitching is a weak response.

I have no objection to guys choosing to combat offensive behavior - that is the individual's business just like any other choice, and an effort to be civil is admirable. Nothing wrong with advocating better manners, either, as long as one does not try to impose them with respect to a select group in an environment which is universally rude. From talking to other gamers (I'm not an online gamer) and reading comments on the current issue of sexism in online and video gaming, and based on my earliest gaming memories, I get the impression that such is what the speaker in this video is trying to advocate.

If you mean, not reason to give grief to a woman, like said 12 year old niggerfaggot would give to anyone else.... then why not to a woman? Console online gaming is a horrible nasty unruly place. You will get shit on regardless of your gender or race.

PC gaming is a little bit different, simply because there are actual hosted servers involved and you can get banned from some of them.

Well Peter its a matter of the trolls should not be doing it in the first place. Just as the things that harm men should not be happening the things that harm women should not be happening.
