Sexual interference is the Canadian term for having sex with a minor 14 or under, it's similar to American Statutory Rape laws in the sense that they may have consented, but you still shouldn't have engaged in intercourse with them. The maximum a person can serve for such a crime is 10 years, no more. However, it is, to my brief knowledge of the Canadian judicial system, rarely given out. Generally, a person will serve 12-36 months for such a crime, and then be put on a registry that will inform people that you're a fucked up sicko. So, people, she is actually serving the average time served by the Canadian judicial system. Stop freaking out and claiming that they're sexist bastards, that's the American legal system.

If the genders in this story where reversed I doubt such leniency would be shown.

It also worth noting that Yahoo! News editors used the phrase "having sex with" instead of "raping," or "sexually assaulting." I've never seen Yahoo! News refer to a male rapist in that manner.

I know that different areas have different ways and names for charges, but sexual interference? It sounds like something you'd get for interrupting someone's masturbation. It's shit like this that irks me. We have two names for crimes, a nice one and a mean one. Sexual assault of a minor versus sexual interference. I know that they may not be the same thing, however, I want to point out the contrast.

In case your wondering women you are not equal yet. Another form of sexism is favoritism in sentencing of crimes. Because if you were a real person who is responsible for your actions their is no reason to make up excuse for your actions just to punish you so that you will learn. Its the difference of punishing a small child or an adult. Its pointless to punish the small child they don't understand but the adult needs to be punished or they will learn nothing.

i just thought it was disgusting that this child molester is only going away for two years and i had to read about her lack of self esteem being why she raped three boys. Just look at the crime she is sentence with sexual interference. Not rape, not statutory rape, not child molestation no its sexual interference. Why because its a women doing it and it was to little boys. What makes male victims worth less and female perpetrators worth more protection?
