"Discriminatory pay"? You sound just like the feminists claiming women get paid less for the same work. It is simple supply and demand. There are plenty of dudes who will fuck on film for pay. There are not as many women who will. Life is not fair.

All the pay issues aside, this is a job that might sound appealling to some of us on the surface, but in practice would really suck. I can't imagine how difficult it is for these actors, men or women, to maintain some sense of intamacy when they actually do find some one to have a realtionship with. I had a friend many years ago who started dating a stripper, and being twenty year olds, we all thought he had lucked out. It lasted maybe 2 months. He told me it just sucked. Thats all he could say. I think I understand it a bit better now, and not just because of this article of course.

I don't think it would be that great a life or even that great an experience. Kinda depressing, really.

There's a horrible part of me that doesn't feel bad for him. The worst part is that I guess you can't do it part-time unless you're wearing a mask or something.

I wonder what he was expecting when he got in. Was it because he had no other option? Or didn't think of the ramifications of being a performer?

The problem is economics. Loads of guys want to be in porn so they get an awful deal. Like most of the creative industries but more so.

On the other hand being James Deen would be pretty fucking cool.

I've done porn. There is nothing wrong with it, once you get comfortable standing around naked.
