My wife suffers from a severe mood disorder. She has many of the traits of borderline personality disorder, but has not been officially diagnosed. She has violent, uncontrolled rages and in the past she has become violent with me and been taken to jail. When she gets upset like that she suddenly decides to grab our daughter (now two years old) and take her out the door, and when I try to stop her she beats me. Because she is a woman I cannot hit back, but sometimes she might get a few minor self-inflicted injuries from thrashing around when I try to restrain her from beating me. The last time they took her to jail, I got her out of jail time by signing a non-prosecution affidavit, but the DA only begrudgingly accepted it.

After the last incident they got CPS involved. We got free counseling and my wife got on medication (trazodone, celexa, and klonopin) to control her rages. Although she has shown much less volatility, the meds have killed her sex drive and she has determined that she doesn't love me any more. Instead she apparently had dreams about her ex from many years ago (whom I believe she had a terrible, violent relationship with) and decided she was in love with him again.

We had some bad arguments recently and I expected to get beaten again, but instead of beating me she managed to stop herself. We were working through our problems with counseling and she told me I was finally addressing her issues in our relationship and "really trying for the first time" and everything seemed good. I really believed we were finally working out.

I am the primary caregiver for our daughter. I work at home and take care of her, and my wife works in a store. After it seemed like everything was fine, suddenly my wife showed up at my door crying with two police officers and two CPS workers and they told me matter-of-factly that I had threatened her (I hadn't) and that they were taking my daughter, which they did.

My wife is a drug user. She had a stash of synthetic cannabinoid "incense" in the house which she immediately went to and disposed of somehow. I still haven't found it. When they tried to take my daughter I told them she was a drug addict and then showed them one of her pipes, and the response I got was "How do we know that's her pipe?" I volunteered to take a drug test and asked them to test her, and the case worker said, "Well, maybe we'll do some drug testing" in a very dismissive way.

Apparently the CPS worker had gone to my wife's workplace, interviewed her, did not interview me, and then decided to take my child away. Now my wife is in a shelter and she had my child and total power over the situation. This is after I had just found evidence that she had been lying to me and scheming to cheat on me.

I have consistently been the victim in the police reports. I have been offered victim services. My wife could have gone to prison for repeat offenses of beating me. I don't hit back. I speak calmly to her and try to calm her down. This time she chose a different method and it's much more devastating.

CPS ignored the police reports and the disposition of the courts and chose to make me the abuser and my wife the victim when the reverse was true. Now I don't have my child, and I can't afford a lawyer.

This system is corrupt and evil and biased against men.

Now my wife says she's not filing for divorce. She just wants a "break". She says she misses her home and her stuff, but not me. She doesn't care what she's doing to our daughter.

She went straight to her stash. She didn't take our daughters diapers. She didn't get a bottle or her blanket. I had to make them take her favorite blanket so she would be able to sleep. How can they hand my daughter to someone so careless that she doesn't even pick up the diaper bag?

According to my wife there will be no hearing, and they don't intend to take our daughter away. If they don't have a hearing, I will be forced to demand one if my daughter isn't home soon.
