He's been married to his wife for over 5 years now and I have witnessed a lot of things. He is depressed, overweight, has talked about suicide before, and says he walks on egg shells to prevent his wife from starting fights about the smallest things. I used to wake up 5 in the morning hearing them argue about things, including me. She embarrasses him in front of people, puts him down, isolates him from his family, makes him sleep in a separate bedroom that happens to be the smallest in the house, fights with him about even the tiniest of things, blames him for problems, eavesdrops on conversations, snoops in all the bedrooms, goes on shopping sprees with the money from the joint accounts, ignores him and me and stomps around to get her way, goes on separate vacations, etc. The list goes on and on. She used to mentally abuse me as well before I left for college and still does to this day whenever I'm home. She even ignored me for two days when I was home over an issue that arrose because she was eavesdropping on a conversation I had with my dad. She slammed doors and stomped around to intimidate me and sent me abusing texts threatening me and calling me immature, spoiled, manipulative, and entitled to everything. This is what I go through and I live 4 hours away from her. God only knows what she puts my dad through now that I'm not around to witness as much. When I see him lately, he is quieter, more depressed, and gaining weight. Because of her eavesdropping, I am not allowed to call my house phone to talk to my father to save our privacy. He tells me that even during marriage counseling, she is controlling to the point she won't let the counselor speak. My dad is a hard working man and stays later at work, partially to avoid confrontation. Do these seem like signs of mental abuse?

I looked up more info on men being mentally abused by women and I found this link that described their relationship exactly:

I need advice on what I can do to help him or how I can get him to help himself. He needs to realize what's going on and stick up for himself. Please, tell me whatever you know about male mental abuse and his options. Thank you.

Edit:

Let me tell you just about their living situation. My dad comes home later than usual from work and goes to bed. If he does come home earlier, they eat dinner separately and he zones out in front of the TV. The only reason why he even has dinner or any food at home lately now is because they are on Jenny Craig...but before that my stepmother has refused to make a descent meal for the majority of their marriage. Once in a while, she'll do a bulk cooking that lasts a week. This means, she makes 15 chicken breasts that we're supposed to eat every day of the week with no complaints. By the end of the week the chicken is slimy and starting to turn gray and she still thinks we're supposed to eat it. When I was home and finally had a car, I'd do the food shopping and cook for myself and my dad. If I didn't, this is what the fridge would look like

They're on Jenny Craig now, so the fridge still looks the same regardless, but it's still irresponsable when you know your child is coming home from college for a few days. To not even have fruits or vegetables to make a good salad is pathetic even if you are on Jenny Craig.

As for the sleeping arrangements, since the day my dad and I moved into the house he bought, and even on their wedding night, she kicked him out of the master bedroom into the guest room because her back hurt her from sleeping with him. She seemed to have no complaints when they were dating. The plan was that they'd switch sleeping in the master bedroom every other week but that never happened. She has a glorious bedroom with crisp green walls, a high fluffy mattress, quality sheets, a TV and wood dressers. My dad has the smallest bedroom, even though he bought the house, and it doesn't even have a real dresser. The most luxurious thing he has in there is a ceiling fan. My bedroom unfortunately is in between theirs, so I hear every damn argument that happens when I'm home...and many are about me. I'd often wake up and cry myself back to sleep because I'd hear her talk crap about me to my dad at 5 in the morning. When I went home last, she was taking things in and out of my room and using it for storage without asking how I felt about it. She also ignored me for 2 days and even threw out my toothbrush...When I used to live at home, my friends and even grandma noticed she'd search in my room and even look between book cracks to see if I was hiding anything. Whenever my dad or I have a phone call, she'd go into the room we're in and pretend to clean as she was listening. She even did it to me during my winter break.

TL;DR So here's a break down of our living situation: There's no food in the house, they sleep in separate bedrooms, she eaves drops on conversations, and snoops around the bedrooms. She's a control freak.
