This article is awful. The whole thing reads like he imported some slave woman from Vietnam and then chained her to his stove.

My wife is a homemaker. It's not because she was forced to be one, or because she was denied education, or because we have some insane set of religious beliefs, or because I bought her from some far away land, or because I chained her to a stove.

She's a homemaker because she wants to be, and because we can afford it. That should be the entire set of criteria governing whether or not your wife is a homemaker.

Ok, the food in that article looks mind-blowing.

Unrelated to that, the comments in that article are ridiculously hateful.

People in this forum bitch that women staying at home are lazy and that it's an easy job. I don't think that's true at all, but regardless, she's clearly putting in some overtime.

The author comes across a bit douchey though, and it sort of sounds like he forbade her to work, which is not cool.

For me it is worth the reduced income to have a cheerful wife preparing great meals at home.

So the implication is that she wouldn't be cheerful if she had a regular job... Hmmmmm

I always see this situation portrayed with the same tradeoff but do these guys ever think of having her work so that they can work less and have an earlier retirement?

I actually don't care if my girlfriend or boyfriend have skills in cooking or whatever. I simply expect my partner to take a fair share of the house chores. Nothing more, nothing less.
