I will always make less than my husband. I chose to be a teacher so I could leave work for a few years (to stay with my youngest) and go back when I felt like it without worrying about climbing the ladder. Also, so I could have summers off with my kids.

Most of my friends have put family over career in many similar ways and taken the cut to their financial success voluntarily. Pregnancy can be a huge career disruptor and there are consequences to putting it off until your 30s and 40s. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the gender wage gap could be traced to small, voluntary and personal choices families make.

It's worth it to me. I'm tired of being told by some feminist camps that because I wanted to stay home and not be a CEO I made the wrong choice for women's equality. I'll live my life as I see fit, thanks.
