Can I just point out this article is from Times Live, not TIME?

Also, it's from South Africa, which has a hideously high rape rate, often by men with HIV because of the folk belief that sex with a virgin can cure AIDS. This isn't some white sorority girl bitching about her regret for her drunken escapades.

As a woman, I am sick and tired of these wimps. Not only do we have to live with the hideous fear of rape and HIV, we must expend energy assuring men that "not all of you are bad".

We know this already, which is why we want those of you who don't abuse women to stop whining, challenge your peers, roll up your sleeves and fight with us.

Making us feel that we must be grateful you don't rape us adds insult to injury.

But I was taught by an activism campaign that in order to stop rape I must simply not rape. I'm actively not raping right now, why isn't it working, and why are you blaming me at all?

Actually, the minister was taking a risk, given that he belongs to a male-dominated cabinet and serves alongside powerful male comrades at the behest of a president whose own sexual conduct has been questioned.

Because the minister is elected by the president.

Instead of condemning their peers and joining in the fight against this abominable violation, they'd far rather point out how unfair the studies are because "women also rape men".

This bullshit argument takes the form of assuming facts not in evidence.
In grade school, we would taunt each other thusly:
"Have you stopped eating your own poo yet?"

Time's title here uses a similarly puerile form of argumentation to libel all men as abusers of women.

Well, I guess I'll cut the charade. I clearly rape and abuse women (although honestly I don't recall it). I also need to quit bitching about men being raped by women and instead need to condemn every other man around me for doing the same things I've done. It's also time I stepped up and took the blame. Surely some woman will come up and point out how I raped them, so until then, I'll be here, ready to serve my jail sentence and gladly place myself on the sex offender list for my transgressions.

Anything, so long as all those dear, innocent, beautiful, strong, independent women can feel better.
