I'm hurt, and if an organizational meeting needs to happen in order to consider males being able to volunteer on the hotline then I will gladly refer men to WRCC to volunteer where gender isn't an issue, and I'll resign my duties on the hotline to stay in line with organization tradition.

It's a good start, but I find it a bit ironic he's threatening to forward people to WRCC, which IIRC is Women's Rape Crisis Center. Good luck helping male victims of abuse there buddy, although I don't think that was the intent. This is really about equal opportunity in the field of social services. I still find it distasteful that there's crisis centers that will only help a specific gender.

To assert that men and women are involved in DV equally is a huge misrepresentation of what is shown to be the actual case....I completely agree that it takes all parties to end DV but we cannot do so if the starting point of our conversation is that men and women are involved in violence equally as you contend.

Social work is a very political field. Unless you support the prevalent political ideologies it's very hard to get work or be promoted.

We definitely need more male social workers as well and more male teachers.
