I would imagine that an abusive guy is going to have to be rather skilled at manipulation in order to be successfully abusive, otherwise women would just leave him.

I just had to quote this part... because I've known more than a few guys where that was their technique for playing the field. Seduce them, fuck them, then treat them like crap - if they let him treat them like crap, he'd just keep fucking them. Once they got sick of being treated like crap, they'd leave and he was free to do it to more to others.

You'd think that over time women would flag such a person and he'd have a hard time getting more dates... but the opposite is actually true. He would appear to be "vetted" and women complaining about him were written off (by women) as just being emotional drama queens.

I don't know, it's some kind of blind spot people seem to have. A similar thing works with men too.
