Dude, first of all. This does no good if no one reads it. You gotta send in a letter to the campus paper, though obvs. it will need to be much shorter. You need to get people to read it to counter the lies.

Second, tone down the claims a bit or you won't convince anyone. The Kanim study and Air Force study numbers are quite high and have not been replicated elsewhere, andthere are some legit criticisms of their methodology. You won't get people to believe that half of rape accusations are false.

And frankly I don't think the number is that high, I think it's between 10-20% based on the evidence I've seen. I would advise giving that number, and cite this which is more concrete and harder to deny:

"commencing in 1989 in cases of rape and rape-murder where there has already been either an arrest or an indictment, the FBI has conducted large numbers of DNA tests “to confirm or exclude the person. In 25 percent of the cases where they can get a result, they excluded the primary suspect"

And in fact I would not go to much into talking about false rape, as then you just get called a misognyist. Just keep it brief and point out the fact just mentioned above, saying "this shows we cannot be too hasty in convicting people of rape on no evidence".

Well written critique. As someone else said, I don't think that a 50% rate of false accusations is realistic, but I appreciate your argument for it. As a Wash U grad student I don't pay much attention to studlife and whatnot, but I'm fairly surprised that they'd publish such a shoddy article.

"One in four" does not mean "one if four during the four years of college." You aren't doing yourself any favors by leaving such a gaping hole in your argument.

I have no idea what percentage of women are actually subjected to assault or attempted assault (and I think a defensible number is impossible too arrive at, since so much incest and child molestation goes forever unreported), but I'm damn sure that not all assaults happen between the ages of 18 and 22.

One point, the newspaper article that you quote as saying:

Most students on this campus are shocked to learn that one in four of their female peers are the victims of rape or attempted rape.

Does not translate into your claim of:

if true, would translate to approximately 750 undergraduate women at Washington University either having been raped, or been the victims of attempted rape. Realizing that the average undergraduate spends four years at Washington university, we should expect approximately 188 rapes and rape attempts to have occurred within the past year.

Someone can still be a victim of rape or attempted rape, even if it didn't happen to them in college, no? You are assuming that every victim of rape and attempted rape suffered their attack during their four years at college, which is a gross misrepresentation of the 25% figure. At the very least, you'd have to adjust your "per-year" number by the average age of female students. Also remember that a great deal of rape happens at the hands of a family member, friend, or trusted individual, often when the victim is young, and unable to defend herself, or take an appropriate response. So, a much greater portion of those 750 cases probably would have happened well before enrolling in college, thus throwing you per-year number even more out of whack.

I'm not saying the 25% number is right--I don't know the facts, studies, and research, but after a cursory examination of your argument, I can say that you are the one grossly misrepresenting facts. Please don't make it any easier for genuine Men's Rights concerns to be so easily dismissed.
