One of my teachers just got fired after a complaint about inappropriate contact with a student. This really bothers me.

Is it a private or public school? Most public school teachers have a right to due process (hearing, appeal, etc.) before being terminated or disciplined. Private school teachers usually do not, and school administrators will get rid of anyone who might create any suspicion of impropriety among the people who pay them (mostly parents).

And this is why I would never consider becoming a teacher. It's a dangerous profession for a male.

I say, record all your interactions at the school during the day, and perhaps even keep a recorder on you at all times--that way, you can just switch it on if a student comes around, or you can set it to be voice-activated any time you interact with someone else. There are iPhone apps that allow you to record audio passively, and it might even be worthwhile to put a nanny cam in your classroom to encourage the students not to act up in general.

In instances like this, the best defense is documentation!

is this the first complaint that he has gotten about innapropriate contact, or have their been others prior? If this is the 3rd, 4th, 5th complaint from a variety of different students there might be a case.
