Removing sex question from surveys and applications

The problem is that any form of demographic identification can sway a potential employer. Color, race, creed, sex, etc. all affect the decision someone makes on whether or not to hire a person. The only solution would be to let resumes, lacking all personal information that might identify someone's demographic, be used to judge candidates. Not even names would be needed as they provide a form of identification.

Applicants should be numbers with streamlined resumes so that the most qualified people are chosen based on the merits of their resume.

The problem with this for employment is that it'll be revealed when you get to the interview process. There will never be fully blind hiring.

They should show the experience and cut off the name and any identifying information until after the position is selected.

I assume we're talking about employment and college applications. In that case, supposedly these questions are for demographic tracking (this is the method used to find out how many men and women are in college and where we get such statistics from). I can see how it's not hard to have a glance at these and get a bias, but an interview (in the case of a job at least) is going to answer those questions regardless.

So honestly it's not usually resulting in any discrimination that's not going to occur later through other methods, however such questions do offer valuable info (like how we know women outnumber men in college).

Surveys? no, surveys are for statisistical gathering, and inherent characteristics can change the percentages a lot. For CVs, sure, being able to leave off irrelevant inherent characteristics should be encouraged. It would be an interesting experiment to see if degendering a CV would alter interview invitations.

depends if we are talking employment, most scholarships, and grant money then yes. However if we are talking standardized tests (which shouldnt be there in the first place), general surveys from marketing, anything regarding research, etc then no they need to stay, it is part of how we learn.

BUT it will never happen. They, like you said, want to artificially balance it.

They have the childish believe that if you have as many women as men working at your company that you support equality.

Furthermore, the government wishes to socially engineer some more.
