Read through the comments here. If a woman were making these same jokes about men, wouldn't you be up in arms? And, if so, why haven't you objected to this thread?

No, I don't give a shit about jokes. I save my anger for those that say harmful lies that they claim are true, e.g. women make 80 cents for every dollar a man makes, DV is done by men against women, etc.

It's a joke. I hear man jokes all the fucking time. They hurt nobody and are harmless. Now, if it was a thread about a bunch of dudes actually beating their wives/girlfriends and laughing about it, then yeah, I'd get a little upset. Just as I would be if a woman posted a thread about beater her husband/boyfriend.

But jokes are jokes.

No I would not be up in arms, because they are fucking jokes. Yes, when someone makes a joke there is always a hint of truth behind it, except when there isn't. I find dead baby jokes and child rape jokes hilarious, does not mean I would ever rape a child or dead baby. These types of jokes are meant to play to a stereotype and they do it well. Hell, most of the jokes in that thread are more offensive to men than women, because they all play on the man as a predator stereotype. Now jokes about women needing to be in the kitchen, or only being good for sex, those play on a different stereotype.

The fact is that If there were jokes about men being made in the same light, I would point out the stereotype that the jokes were mocking is most likely wrong, but I would not be offended or get bent out of shape, because humor is humor, not fact.
