I read the first few paragraphs. I didn't read the entire thing. It does seem like the gender of the people is being purposefully hidden.

Who the hell cares? Those people are risking their lives, Japan suffered the 4th largest earthquake in recorded history and you are getting upset that they used gender neutral words. For shame. Get some damn perspective and don't try to make everything into a men's rights issue. I will admit that sometimes there are legitimate issues, like a father not getting the fair deal in divorce cases, but this is nothing like that. Don't try to make it into that. Be a decent human and just respect those that are risking their lives.

"They are very keen to display violence. Teenage boys are notorious for that"

I think I found a project for spring break. Gathering a collection of articles that clearly demonstrate a bias in the media to hide the gender of a group when the group is male and does something honorable; to make the gender clear when a female group does something honorable; and to make the gender clear when a male group does something dishonorable.

Gender not an issue here? I think not. The point is, women want equality in the workforce, but only in certain jobs. Do we see a push from feminists to get jobs in steel mills or mining? No we don't. And what about physical labor that pays poverty level wages? It's all men. And so now we even see it in the military, as shown in the other week's report on diversity in the military brass. Are they pushing to have women in combat? No, only in the higher ranks. The point is men take the shit, risky jobs and that's ok with modern society and their continual search for equality. What the fuck ever.
