It amazes me that there's a group of guys here who say "well, I won't believe there's a lot of rape in the military until I see some statistics", and then say "well, the statistics are wrong" while simultaneously using individual quotations and anecdotes about circumcision as irrefutable proof that circumcision is evil.

Some of the posts are completely OUTRAGEOUS,ignorant and inaccurate. I proudly served 9 years and would do it again ANY DAMN DAY! Yeah thats right- I m a FEMALE, recruited from Americas “bottom of the barrell, scum” and proudly married to a NAVY CHIEF- who also was recruited from the same barrell! Why is this just being brought up and presented like violence/sexual violence in the military only affects women? Even if you were to ignore that there is significantly more men than women in the military; that sexual assault happened in the military long before women started joining up; that men would be less likely to report sexual assault; that men are socialized to virtually never refuse women, much less consider unwanted interactions with women sexual assault or harassment; and that women would be more likely to lie about sexual assault, rape still happens to men too. Women are not the only victims to consider. What about all the other types of assault, injuries and/or even deaths that happen to men in the military too(all of which I would argue would be significantly worse than rape and/or sexual assault)?

Erm, I would liek to see the definition used of rape before I accept on face value the stats used to detemrine who suffered it.
