InfinitelyThirsting actually stood up for us with this fact-filled post, in a hostile 2XC thread. I want her to get some props for it. In my book, she has proven herself to be a friend to men. I take back every mean thing I said about her.

I think the best policy in general is to evaluate the comment regardless of the submitter. If you notice a series of comments / subs from one submitter that generally contribute or derail the conversation, take that into account.

I've noticed surprise from both sides.

A lot of men seem surprised there are women who seem to understand the issue, and a lot of feminists are surprised there are people who are making coherent rebuttals to feminists propaganda.

I think the men are so used to being demonized they are shocked when there is support... and the feminists are so used to hearing blind acceptance they are shocked when there is resistance they can't just shame, sue, or politicize away. You really get the feeling that feminists are so used to knocking over strawmen and bullying that they've almost lost the ability to engage in actual real debate.

Anyway, it was heartening to see that, actually "not all women are like that"

That thread is really quite amazing. Lots of... uhm... everything... all perspectives... in that thread.

Er, thanks. I've been on a business trip so I wasn't really on reddit much and didn't have time to be checking out various subs, so I didn't see this until now, when browsing through to catch up on what's been happening. I feel slightly embarrassed, being singled out.

But I'm glad you believe that I'm a friend to men. I do my best. I am a strict egalitarian, and try to call out myths and lies and prejudice when I see it, because I don't think anyone will get anywhere by bashing the other side, and because I really think Men's Rights in particular needs to not alienate so many people (mostly women, but I've seen derogatory comments from men too) because we're fighting against the establishment and blind mob beliefs, so it takes a strong voice, and that takes numbers. And just on a personal-ethics level, hypocrisy bothers me, which is why I can't help but comment when either gender is painted with a wide brush, especially when a big part of the Men's Rights movement is about the perception of men as rapists, or useless, etc. Which I know doesn't matter to everyone here, but it's part of what really kills me about modern society.

But, yeah. When I see it on the other side, I call it out just as doggedly. It comes up a lot more in real life than on reddit (I do try to keep tabs on /feminisms and /women sometimes, but there's hardly any conversation that goes on in there, unlike here, so it's almost never worth the effort, and in TwoX a lot of the time it's less... political? stuff, sex and relationships and clothes, though I have to chime against the people who will bash this subreddit for no reason a lot). There are women who are on your side, and hopefully more of them will find their way to actually caring equally about equal rights. If you want someone's respect, you have to offer it in return, and that's something a lot of men aren't being given.

Alright, I've rambled too much because I've hardly slept the past few days, but I felt like I had to say something. I'm well aware that there are real people behind the internet, and I'm really touched by the recognition/acknowledgement, it means a lot.

The lesson to learn from this, oh dear, sweet MRAs, is that some people vehemently disagree with a lot of shit that gets said on this forum...and still support men's issues.
