It seems to me that there is a bit of a simmering backlash against men. It is here on reddit (see the anti-men posts on feminisms, not the ones actually discussing the problems with feminine gender construction) and I have also been trawling the internet for a while now and have been coming across blogs and opinions that basically state:

The current female crisis is due to men.

The gyst of this entire 'female crisis' is apparently that females are now displaced from their traditional role (in most societies) as the family caretaker and is now apparently lacking in ideas/options as to what their role should be. Apparently there is also some resentment going on due to this displacement (see the Are Women necessary post a few days back here on 2X).

It seems that the most complaints aimed at men (although we are never really told which men, as there are many strains and variations) is that men "act like women" and have displaced women and have taken over their traditional roles.

I would like to just clarify the type of man that I am - the type that believes gender is socially constructed, that above all we are individuals and not vaginas/penises, that parental leave should be given equally to men and women, the type that things the family court system IS often sexist against women, especially in relation to child custody etc. You get the drift.

But I cannot take the argument that "men are now acting like women" seriously or that women are apparently now going through an identity crisis. I am more financially/socially succesful than my gf. if we measure it in traditional social status/income amount measures. But my gf does not seem to care and is not going through any crisis. All my female friends have such varied lives it seems almost impossible to say that any of them are going through some feminine identity thing. In fact they are doing what they are doing, whether that makes them "real women" or not.

The "men acting like women" is just nonsense to me as well. Does anyone else think this is complete insanity?
