The biggest thing sexualizing thirteen year old girls is definitely the girls themselves. Think about it--the average age for puberty is now nine. So by fourteen, they're four years into puberty. I got my period when I was fourteen and a half [edit for clarity: this means I *started puberty around twelve; girls hitting puberty at nine will get their periods around eleven or twelve; sexual thoughts definitely start before menarche but get insane once a girl is going through menstrual cycles]*. A year and a half later, I would have gladly and preparedly slept with someone I was dating. A year and a half after that, I finally did, and it felt great to finally be rid of pesky chastity. I can't imagine what it's like for thirteen year old girls who have already been hormonal and sexually developed for four years to be expected to wait three or more years before it becomes "acceptable".

But articles like Dowd's conveniently ignore these facts, and expect and depend upon us to think about girls as not being pubescent til fourteen, thus making us think of thirteen year olds as children not adolescents, and allowing people to blindly demonize the young boys.

Evolution, human nature, and puberty are what sexualize 13yo girls.

Look at every other animal out there- there are no societal age limits, just biological ones.

I don't think grown adults should be allowed to fuck children, but I do think that we need to look at the situation from a different perspective.

I would have had sex with almost ANY female at 13.

That's about it. I've posted on similar topics in the past and I'm an old guy and I've been around far too long. Girls are as sexually aggressive as boys. Always have been. Let's stop mythologizing them.

I think society needs to calm the fuck down about teens starting to engage in sexual activity - because its incredibly normal and healthy as long as they've been taught loads about "safe" forms of sex.
